I loved "Permanent Sunlight" off of that record

 

Once again, @sophos34 is missing some quality Thursday discussion.

 

Brand New seem to still really enjoy playing music, but that doesn't mean they love everything on the other side of stepping on stage and stepping off. They could just do a holiday show or two a year and pull a Mene/I Am a Nightmare when they came naturally and they'd sell out every time. This record shows me they still have plenty to say. I wouldn't be surprised if 2018 is the last time we ever see a national tour and a true album cycle.

i'm probably at about a modest 10-15 listens but i can't really listen to music at work and i dont have an aux/bluetooth compatible car.

 

Sparta's 3 albums are all great. Wish they would make more music. 1 of only a couple bands from my home town to make it big.

 

I have listened at least once a day since it came out so I guess I'm around 15

Still hits hard every time and never feels like a full hour

I have a feeling this is something I'll be talking about a lot in this thread, but everything about this album screams swan song to me. That combined with the "2000-2018" thing leads me to believe that the band is sincere and will be hanging things up next year. Will 2018 be the last we ever hear from Brand New? I don't know. Maybe. But at the very least I am not expecting to ever get an LP6 or another tour.

 

Hypothetically, let's say they DON'T play the album in its entirety on this fall tour. Wonder what they open with. I don't think they'd open with Lit Me Up. Maybe though.

I think they could feasibly open with Out of Mana or 451, something a little heavier. Or maybe an older song.

I remember I saw them on their first day of the Daisy tour in 2009 and they didn't play anything off Daisy until the 6th song.

i never even bothered to look at how long the record was until maybe a few days ago, and when i saw it was over an hour i was blown away, it always feels like a nice fast run through.

 

Both this and A Black Mile to the Surface are near an hour, and both of them fly by, it feels.

 

When these guys need more money in a few years, they'll just release a box set with everything they've already released as well as a bunch of unreleased stuff.

 

Yeah I feel the same way. I always have an issue with albums this long but these 2 broke that mold for me I guess haha

 

You know with 99% of bands that end these days you can assume there will be a reunion.

I could totally see brand new being the 1% that once they say they're officially done, we never see Brand New on a stage ever again.

 

As someone who was bored by everything Manchester Orchestra did after METN, would I like their new one?

 

High and Low festival were supposed to announce the set times yesterday but they didn't ugh I want to know how long this band is going to play for

 

feel the same way about Yellowcard. I don't expect to ever see them play another show. they mean it when they say they're done.

 

Yea and I've spent most of my summer listening to both albums haha

 

It's 100 percent not boring but it's also not heavy. There's a ton of varied on the album but the song writing is probably their best so far.

 

@Kingjohn_654 i think you may like the new MO record. At te very least listen to The Alien, The Sunshine, and The Grocery back to back in that order...

 

Can we all agree to use spoiler tags when talking about the brand new set lists? I don't want to spoiled on this one. Even though they seem to be a band that plays a different set everynight

 

I hope they sign/collaborate with more artists on Procrastinate. It's interesting to try and think who they would work with.
