Or when Rachel left David stuck forever as a rat on a little island overrun with rats so he had to feast on dead rats forever?

Oh I'm dead serious. Seen her in concert too.

She's my favorite female artist of all time.

Seems like an odd distinction, but I'm inclined to agree

Glad you agree. I don't think it's an odd distinction at all. People always say "Best in this genre" "Best male artist" "Best female artist" "Best solo artist" "Best Duo" "Best Band" ect.

    Pretty common in my experience.

I stayed off the SF today until my walk home from train after work. Lit Me Up lit me up almost just like the first time.

I showed it to my brother who has never heard Brand New and he thought it was great. In fact, I think it's an excellent song to show non-Brand New fans

It's the optimist in Brand New that wins on 'Science Fiction | Upset

I haden't seen this one yet.

Also thought i'd share a good comment from reddit. I agree with this sentiment for sure:

"Eights days ago I posted the following comment in this Subreddit about the upcoming Brand New album that we all knew was on its way but didn't know when:

"I'm hoping for an album that is thematically optimistic and uplifting. Even if the music itself is haunting, beautiful, spacey and/or heavy.

Jesse and the rest of the band are the same age as me. I went through life in stages along with them. From teen angst, to insecurity, to self-deprecation, to anger.

Every time I felt I had something to say they made an album that said it for me and better than I ever could. Maybe more importantly, when I look back at the things they said the words don't seem trite, petty, or unecessary. I can't really say that about things I've written or said.

Now that I'm a 30-something adult — and it's been eight years since Daisy — I'm past the angry stage in my life.

I want an album that says it's ok to be happy. I want an album that says it's ok to settle down. I want an album that says it's ok to put the self-hate and frustration behind me.

If you think about it, "I Am A Nightmare" is Brand New's first love song. And it happens to be their most upbeat song of recent years.

I don't want an album that sounds like IAAN all the through. But I want some more of those positive themes."

Man, I pretty much got exactly what I wanted. And am so happy for it.

    I love these guys."

    Julien Baker
    Paramore
    Petal
    Feist
    Eisley

Probably my top 5. I could see Julien Baker being a favorite artist of mine if her album is as good as as Sprained Ankle. Paramore is probably a top 15 band for me. Always been a huge fan of Feist, and i love the petal record, cant wait for the next one.

Lol that New Taylor Swift song is so embarrassingly bad that I actually love it. Like, I was kind of on board and then that absolutely atrocious chorus came in and like, the worst bridge ever. It's so bad it's good.

Yeah it's def being overused already saw the coldplay radiohead one among others but liked this one because of the blue and red and 2 girls so it made me think of the artwork for SF haha

    I don't have one.

But T-Swift and Lauren Mayberry (the lead singer of CHVRCHES and my avy) are top 2.

we're all a bunch of weirdos on a quest to belong Prestigious

I don't love the idea of separating female artist vs male artist or whatever. Like a good artist is just a good artist. Like I don't think Julien Baker is one of the best female singer songwriters, I think she is just one of the best singer songwriters.

    Shut the FFFFFFRESHFISH UP

Yo that new Feist album is amazing. Wasn't a huge/active fan but then "Pleasure" drew me in.

I'd say Julien Baker, Janelle Monae, Tank (and the Bangas), Kimya Dawson, Now Now, and Laura Jane Grace/Against Me! are some of my favorites off the top of my head
