The relics of our youth are on full display. You can certainly tell how old someone is by how they discovered this band and where they purchased/downloaded their music.

2002 was pretty good. GOB, Sum 41 and Treble Charger my teen self ate that up and loved it. Probably played way too much so that one really stands out to me still.

i came on maybe a year before deja right at the start of high school after copping jude/failure/mixtape off of kazaa lol.

still remmeber the first time i heard deja and it absolutely floored me unlike any other record ever has. went to the FYE at the mall and picked the cd up on release day and just sat in my friends room listening to it over and over again all day.

Definitely heard Sic Transit Gloria circa 2007 in freshmen year of high school on a mix cd one of my buddies had. Fell in love with Deja pretty soon after which made me check out their other stuff. Your Favorite Weapon was right in line with a lot of the other stuff I was listening to around then but Devil and God floored me. That cemented me as a heavy fan and I started lurking this website in the lead up to Daisy. And here we are 8 years later.

for me it was Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004

I'd get home from school that fall (2003) and go right to playing that game. And so many times when it got to Quiet Things, I'd zone out of whatever game menu I was working in and turn my attention to the song in its entirety.

So I guess that served as a gateway to this band and emotional music in general

So I got into Brand New at the ripe age of 8 (and honestly this is what got me into music). My dad has a younger brother (my uncle) that was in highschool when I was 8. So in 2003 one Christmas when all my family was together and staying at my grandparents house, this uncle of mine had an Xbox in the house that he would let me and my cousin play. He didn't have a lot of games, so basically we were only allowed to play Tony Hawk Underground (goat game).
It was like crazy at the time that you could put your own music on an Xbox, and my uncle had his Xbox loaded with like all his own stuff. I think he was worried that he was going to have music playing with a ton of explicit language and his 8 and 10 year old nephews were gonna hear it all. So he set it so that when we were playing Xbox only Deja Entendu would play. Me and my cousin fell in love with it.

I remember we'd start to get favorites. My first favorite that I can remember was Tommy Gun. I remember not knowing it was called Brand New, or anything I just knew "uncle Brennan's Xbox has my favorite music on it".
This uncle didn't live in the same city, so I remember when the Xbox wasn't around realizing that I could put words to the music into search websites (probably used some really crap engine at the time like alltheweb hahaha). I remember finding Tommy Gun that way. Eventually my uncle gave me and my dad a burned copy of Deja, although I don't remember the timeline of that or anything.

A couple years later when I was in grades 6 and 7 and I got a first gen iPod shuffle (the one that just looks like a thumb drive) and all it had was Deja Entendu, Bleed American, Futures, and Clarity.

So yeah that's my life everyone read it and feel free to remind me I was the most bad ass 8 year old ever.

I don't know the my exact origin timeline for Brand New. It was probably seeing the Sic Transit Gloria video on MTV2 or something. Whenever it was Napster was still a thing. I remember downloading every track of Deja on Napster except I could never find Tommy Gun on the service so for the longest time I listened to Deja as an incomplete album but just figured that Tommy Gun wasn't a single so I probably wasn't missing out. Soon after I bought YFW at FYE (I think it was called something else at the time) because I went to see if I could find an official Deja cd and realized they had made a previous album. I was definitely hooked though and then DAG come out my senior year of high school and was in my car cd player forever.

Fun fact my username name is inspired by the Brand New street team password at the time which was DejaYou. When I joined AP around 2005 or 2006 I chose DejaMe and on Chorus it became DejaMoi which seemed like a fitting name. The funny thing is Deja is only like my 3rd favorite BN album just thought y'all just know that haha not that it matters. Now back to SF. I haven't played it today yet
