137 and Lit Me Up are in a constant battle for my favorite here, both are very easily already top 10 BN tracks for me.

I can't imagine 137 being a least favorite. that last chorus is straight fire

i like bands who can't sing good Supporter

yeah last chorus on 137 is arguably the most powerful moment on the album for me. that and the acoustic number at the end of out of mana

Hyden reviewed it for Uproxx. Called it the Abbey Road of emo. Got "The Rx". Equivalent of BNM. Pretty high praise.

    I fucking love Steven Hyden

I always did, and now I fucking love him more

My origin story is that I heard "Sic Transit Gloria..." on Last.Fm Radio in 2013 back when they had their own version of Pandora. But the first Brand New song I heard was actually "At the Bottom", which I heard in 2012 on a Music Choice channel on my TV. I don't remember anything about it, except that I Shazam'd it because I liked it and I still have it stored on my Shazam log

Sometimes I look down at my phone while listening to the record and see the album cover and am just shocked that it's actually real

This is shockingly similar to how I discovered them. Also a sophomore in high school, one of my friends was always finding the latest and greatest artists in music to show me. One day I'm hanging out with her and she plays Mixtape for the first time and is belting out the lyrics. When I went home I immediately sought out Brand New on Limewire or Kazaa and proceeded to download as many tracks as I could find, including Logan and Failure, which remain two of my favorites from them. Although I've been hooked ever since, it wasn't until the lead up to TDAG that they overcame Blink and Incubus as my favorite band.

    Origin story? Origin story.

2001, I was in 7th grade. Friend made me watch the "Jude Law" video on MTV2. Caught my first Brand New show in 2002. And the rest is history.

They never over took Blink for me (my favorite band) but they over took a ton of bands when I finally really got into them and heard their entire discog. Definitely one of the beat bands ever.

I did yesterday while cleaning my kitchen. It really doesnt get old, though I never thought it was 10/10. Then I listened to Diasy really loud on vinyl. Hard to say it's less great than SF, just a totally different beast. Going Deja>Devil>SF is a logical progression in sound

Preordered the white Australian. AUD it was $74. But converted to USD that's about $58.40. I couldn't settle with not having a limited, unique/special pressing of this album. An infinite pressing of this album will not cut it for me.

    ANYWAY

Origin story: I had heard "The Quite Things That No One Ever Knows" on XM radio back when it was in rotation in 2003-04. I remember the song being, "that song with this incredible chorus that I had to hear again". I remember not knowing who Brand New was or where they came from. Every time I heard the song on the radio though I loved it more and more. I eventually got a burn of the album(or some select songs from the album) in iffy quality and listened to that. I liked it enough that I was in the know about TDAG coming out, so I went to pick it up at Circuit City the day it came out. That was one incredible fall listening to the album for the first time.

I don't think I was on AP yet at the time so I had no idea about the demo leaks or any of that madness. I think I joined in 07? I wish I was apart of that, but alas..... my story is my own.

I first heard this band in 2013 so I was late to the party. I was 16 and just had a breakup. Someone posted lyrics to Sic Transit Gloria on Facebook and I googled it since it resonated with me. I was blown away! I met a new girl like two weeks later and while I was at her place I went through her iPod which had like 4 Brand New songs I think. I heard the song Daisy and then Degausser and within the week I picked up TDAG at Best Buy (and then started lurking AP.net since I remember people mentioned this band here after I discovered the site when Dogs Eating Dogs was released)

I'm listening to Pale Horses right now and I honestly think it's the first album I've listened to since SF that isn't SF lol

My origin story is a 2 parter.

Hearing Quiet Things on ea sports NHL 2004 (easily one of the best video game soundtracks ever) loved the song and it put them on my radar but not completely yet.

Also around the same time seeing their music video for Sic Transit Gloria on Much Music and being mesmerized. Loved the video and the song. Loved the video so much that I remember downloading it on my computer off either limewire or kazaa along with a Sigur Ros video i saw at the same time. After that I obviously was interested in hearing more from them but surprisingly didnt check out Deja right away.

In the fall of 2006, I remember being on purevolume (one of my favorite sites at the time other than AP) and landing on their page and hearing Sowing Season for the first time. It rocked my world. I had never heard anything like it before and then I promply purchased some songs off of Deja (but not all lol) and started really anticipating what would eventually become my favorite album of all time. Streamed it to death pre release when it was on myspace and then i bought it when it came out and finally went back and listened to all of Deja haha

I see it. It does flow like one long track. Not to mention how most of originally heard the album. It's also BN's best most accomplished record (imo). And I believe Hyden feels that way about Abbey Road and The Beatles as well. Abbey Road is also by some considered The Beatles last true record, regardless of Let It Be.

I think the finality and mythology surrounding both records is where the true comparison lies
