I just know that to this day there's an ebb and a flow to my favorites on each of these albums.

Science Fiction and A Black Mile to the Surface make me feel like I did when I discovered those albums.

Best first single any band has ever released.

 

Damn those harmonies of "boy" on the end of Same Logic are just the best thing around.

 

I love this part so much! Wish it were longer, but it makes you love it more how short and sweet it is.

That "Teeth" coda reminds me a little of some sections from "Impossible Soul" by Sufjan Stevens.

The 23:15 minute mark of Impossible Soul, to be specific.

 

I love Vin's part in that song. Such a cool song. why don't you like it just bc its low?

 

Totally likewise for me too tbh. I already know those 2 albums will have such a special place and join TDAG and Beggars. Also for me TBEITBN is already up there with those ones as well. I still can't believe BN, Manchester and Thrice still released albums this good after what they have done in the past. What immensely talented and special bands they are.

Of course that run of Logic > Water are represented at the top of my list. That's on par with Sowing Season > YWK and Tommy Gun > Maradona as the best run of songs on their records.

 

I really like "flying at tree level" a real underrated B side

 

See, I've never been a big fan of Flying at Tree Level. It's one of those songs that just doesn't go anywhere. Having said that, I've really enjoyed it in a live setting. It becomes more dynamic and can be viewed as a special treat.

 

Just sounds out of place to me, like they were joking. If they're going for a modest mouse homage, it just doesn't really pull it off imo.

H0t t@k3 alert: I just listened to TDAG for the first time in a bit and while it's obviously a solid record, only a handful of tracks on it are awesome. Throw Jesus on the demos and get Battalions as developed as Archers and ya got a way better rekkid

 

I don't really love Doublespeak but other than that, yes, beggars, ahhhhhhhhhhh

 

I know, I know but still! Where is it now? lol

 

I wouldn't necessarily think of this album being "catchy", but every single day I have 2-3 songs stuck in my head. So I suppose I know nothing and love this.

 

Had the same thought.

1-4 are fantastic and then it falls off. Still good but...falls off.

Also has 2 instrumentals.

Handcuffs is a weak closer.

 

Sneaky catchy.
