Well, that was quite an hour.

 

I don't know if this is a theory so much as an observation but bear with me.

I cannot have sex in my dreams. I'm going somewhere with this, I promise. I can't have sex in my dreams for the life of me. Every single time I get close an external force will stop me. Either someone will knock on the door, or something totally absurd will happen or I'll simply wake up before I can do the deed but something always stops me. The feeling I get when I'm having those dreams is the same feeling I get when watching these scenes with Audrey. Nothing logical is stopping her from leaving the house but every time we see her , she gets thwarted by something completely asinine. I'm not saying she's in a dream, but I do think there's something to the fact that her scenes are so bizarrely frustrating.

 

Those log lady scenes must have been hard to film

 

Okay, so am I wrong or was that actually David Bowie's voice in the scene with Black Lodge Teapot Jeffries? Did he record some lines before being able to film any actual scenes or something? Because I didn't catch anyone else in the credits except Bowie as Jeffries. Unless that was just for the recycled FWWM footage.

Oh and am I being naive in thinking this means we're getting Coop back now???

 

Another great episode. I think Coop is finally back. As fun and kind of silly as it's been, the Dougie/Janey-E plot is so sad to me because she's so happy with Coop and it's all a lie that's gonna be taken away from her now. That reveal is gonna be tragic.

 

I don't think Coop will wake up until the end of 16 and then we'll actually see him in 17.

Also, bless Dr. Jacoby.

 

You're probably on to something here, especially given Lynch's penchant for working with 'dream logic'. Every scene of hers so far with Charlie has felt almost more surreal than anything else we've seen so far, if for no other reason than there's nothing stopping her from leaving but every time she tries she fails, event tonight when she was literally on the threshold.

 

I'm crying so hard.

Would I be wrong in thinking the scenes with Tim Roth and Jennifer Jason Leigh are Tarantino homages? The conversations feel like something right out of Pulp Fiction, not to mention Roth being in several of his films and both of them being in The Hateful Eight.

The scene in the van tonight was great

the music in ed's scene with Norma was top tier 10/10.

also James Hurley deserves a damn oscar/golden globe/Emmy whatever for how good that bar scene was.

 

Really enjoyed this episode. The Doppelcoop stuff was terrifying and fascinating. Ed and Norma's scenes were really wonderful to see after all this time. I think I'm buying into the dream/coma theory for Audrey so I'm curious to see where that goes. Lastly, of course, the emotional goodbye to Margaret/Catherine, got a few tears from me. I can't believe there's only three hours left, what a spectacular, unique ride this has been.

EDIT: Almost forgot one of the best parts of the episode: the green glove punch sound effect

 

What an episode. The only reason I'm not totally buying into the Audrey theory is because other characters have mentioned Billy's absence. Also every scene with Audrey when put together plays out like the "final straw" kind of argument you have with your spouse before you separate, identity crisis and all. Could very well still take place in the real world.

Curious about a few things tho:

Why would Richard hunt down Mr. C? I know he mentions seeing his picture at his mother's and that he knows he's FBI, but does that indicate anything about his plan?

Anyone remember the big nosed masked character "The Electrician" in the convenience store scenes in FWWM? I dont know how Sarah fits into all of this, but thats who i saw when the jumpman turned on the power.

Does anyone have any idea just who Judy is?

 

I'm assuming Judy is the woman Hawk, Truman and Andy found in the forest.

Excited to dive into this finally.

 

It's really interesting. I'm about halfway through it. I highly suggest getting some 3D glasses for a few of the pictures.

 

I really want to go back and reread Secret History once the season is over. I have a feeling a lot of it will feel more relevant after having seen the third season.
