This may be stupid and may have been touched on already but is no control a follow up from desert but from the boy's perspective? Just with the line "Hold me down underwater and don't let me up again" which would make sense with the "I'd hold him down on the Tompkins lake" line and "some get sick, some don't get cured" made me think it was how his father sees him. Just a thought. Haha

 

Watching/listening (it's weird watching an album review, and I don't like it) to that "review" now, but it's actually unsettling how similar this guy's thoughts are to mine. More so that he's coming at it as a Christian.

 

In the Water and Same Logic I enjoy more than Degausser, but yeah that Limousine/You Won't Know combo is practically impossible to top at this point.

 

Limousine is Brand New's best song in my opinion. I can't imagine them releasing a single track that could top it. With that being said, I am so pleasantly surprised with Science Fiction and I imagine it will be battling with the Menzingers 'After the Party' for my album of the year.

I would probably agree that Limousine is at least a contender for their best song. Personally the whole first 6 tracks from TDAG are the best six on any album ever.

Limousine is so good, just so difficult to listen to because of the story

 

Listening through to this again, and while I guess understand WHY people are curious about where all the samples and interlude dialogue comes from, I think it would ruin the mystery and creepiness of the album to be able to place them to something that already exists.

 

I woke up Friday morning wholly expecting there to not be a new Brand New album still on my iPhone

 

You Won't Know and Limousine both end with cool guitar parts.

 

I was thinking the same thing this morning.... because the tapes / dialog snippets sound "old". So, either they found a box of creepy tapes somewhere, or someone did a great job scripting and recording that dialog and artificially aging the sound of it.

 

Listened to TDAG, Daisy, and Science Fiction in sequence this weekend. Really really great three album run from them. I hope they're done.

 

Listening to this album before work, going to take my girlfriend out to mini golf after, and then we're coming home to listen to this! It'll be her first listen. She's super stoked.

 

My day today is gonna revolve around listening to this album. I just wish I had some weed for the occasion. I still fondly remember listening to TDAG stoned when I first started smoking/getting into this band. Just every day getting as high as possible and getting totally carried away by the sounds of that album.

 

It's really, really great.

People just need to let them exist and leave the mystery!

y'all put 70 pages in this thread over the weekend, time to catch up I guess. that person arguing about getting pushed and shoved at shows was the worst.

 

When I grabbed tickets to their winter tour a week or so ago, I was thinking how "Hot Fuss" may have the best 1 through 5 of any album ever. Then I thought about "Devil and God" 1 through 6, and also, "Astral Weeks" 1 through 5 (oh my god). So many good options everywhere.

 

Many artists of this newer generation have already cited Deja Entendu as a major influence.
