My biggest issue with Daisy is that I am not big on Jesse's vocal style on it.

For sure, complete game changer. I don't really read track rankings and the like, but the structure of Okay I Believe You, blew me away at the time. I can't think of many songs that hit me like that did.

  3. I've loved the twangy type of guitar stuff since Daisy came out, and that's part of what I'm talking about when I say Vin got better on this record, but not all of it. His solos have more going on than ever before, and his tone is way more textured too--I'm not catching them on this mini-tour but I hope someone snaps a pic of his pedalboard because it's gotta be massive to recreate some of this live.

I love what he does on songs like "In the Water," but probably my favorite guitar moment isn't one of the twangy bits at all, it's when everything blows up in the last 90 seconds of "137" and Vin's doing that arpeggiated bit that almost sounds like an air raid siren or some shit to me ha. Very much matches the apocalyptic tone of that song.

In the Water and Waste have some of their most melodic guitarwork and I am way into it.

  6. The whole album is incredible, but the stretch from Same Logic to In the Water is on a level most bands could only dream of.

Does anyone else get the urge to listen to REM when what sounds like a mandolin plays?

Waste rules but I can't see it being a better closer than Batter Up. I knew there was a chance I would love wtv they decided to put out but tbh I never thought I would LOVE anything as much again as TDAG and than SF came along and changed all that. I mean if anyone was going to do it, it would be Brand New so its so fitting and I couldnt be happier about it y'all

Agree. That chorus is huge. I love it.

Leaving the hospital with Little Selkies #2 today. Gonna take my dogs for a solid walk and listen to this record a couple times. Also, shameless plug, it's my birthday today. Yea buddy.

also, any conversation on the cover art?

where are the girls jumping from?
    a patio?
    why?
    what has made them jump?
    just for fun?
    something sinister?
if sinister, why did they have to jump?
why couldn't they leave through a door?
why not jump on the cars for a smaller fall?
how many ankles will be broken by the fall? all 4?
are more people waiting to jump after them?
is red gonna land on blue, or next to her?
are those water spots on the lens taking the picture, or orbs of spirits?

i love thinking of these things.

The way I look at it, it's a win win situation. Scoring the limited vinyl is the best part, getting that cd package would be a nice added bonus but i'm ok with not getting it. Bunch of peolpe are bummed they missed out on the pre-order so we're still the lucky ones either way

agree with you so much here too. his solos are just incredible on this thing.

The only track that hasn't hooked me yet is Could Never Be Heaven. It's obviously not very dynamic, but the guitar and vocal melody doesn't hit me either, especially the chorus. Plus, it's easy to skip when it's followed by the best song on the album.

I was drowning in the lake dammed
    Over a dead mining town
The cars and the homes lay still in the water
The deeper I sank, the less I died
The trees swayed, slower the the tide
There were people I love below me singing

And all of the songs were about you
And all of the songs were about you
And all of the songs were about you

how someone could think thats a weak song is beyond me
