This is the analysis I crave

 

It's good but a few songs are pretty weak. Not too into guernica and play crack the sky

 

Anyways Science Fiction is officially the best-selling album in the U.S. right now. What a time to be alive.

 

Play Crack the Sky is one of their best. Wtf?

 

The weak songs on Deja are Jaws Theme Swimming and Me vs. Maradonna vs. Elvis. Fax.

 

Amnesiac is the Deja to TDAG’s OK Computer. Which I think makes Daisy Kid A and Science Fiction is In Rainbows.

 

I don't agree with that but I would say a huge part comes from people rejecting influential albums that first got them to truly love music/certain genres. An odd trait to have, the idea to reject albums you love as you "mature". I fucked around with some pretty shitty bands and can still at least appreciate the melodic value a lot of them have. A Day to Remember, for instance

I remember vividly when I first heard Tautou. It was a magical moment

 

Playing it now! Was never in love with Guernica or Tautou. Guernica has actually grown on me. PCTS is a classic for me. Would always belt that shit late night after people left our parties with my friends. That and Soco

 

Like seriously if you don't think In the Water is one of the very best songs on this record you're playing games

I was out on a research trip, all week on my own. Sitting in archives. Perfect situation for new Brand New.

I love it. Can only imagine in what kind of mood this would have put me if it came out during the winter.

 

There's probably only 2 or 3 songs I like on Deja. I think that mostly has to do with the fact that I didn't discover Brand New until TDAG came out. I fell in love with that album and then went back and listened to Deja and thought it was pretty meh. I don't listen to Your Favorite Weapon.

 

I said "one of" even though it is my favorite

I only kinda like Sic Transit Gloria and Quiet Things from Deja tbh

 

Sic Transit is one of the weaker songs on the album, tbh. Quiet Things is iconic. What a song

 

Obviously I was just picking up on an LP that I really don't enjoy but a lot of BN fans I feel do. But you've pretty much summed it up better than I did with what I was looking into saying with what I said, I was into Brand New and saw them on their first ever UK tour in 2003 supporting Finch but I am a bit the same against YFW, to me I think it's their worst but I still really enjoy it when I feel like listening. The dismissal of things you like just for feeling you're not allowed to anymore really confuses me. "Oh shit everyone else doesn't like this album I like anymore, better start running it down"

 

Not into either of the number songs on this. Skipped 451 my last go round
