i work at a subway and an ice cream shop so AMA

 

Am I a heathen/idiot if I still hold out hope for 3 demos reworked 2 with good man full band, acoustic sewing and battalions so I can finally modern day playlist that for good

 

Is the ice cream shop in the subway? Can you just get a footlong filled with ice cream for 5 bucks?

 

I'm not really seeing this comment on this site, but some people are being critical of the mastering. I'm no audiophile expert so I don't have an opinion other than... sounds good to me. Anyone notice anything that could have improved the sound?

 

Brand New - 'Science Fiction'

 

The mastering is incredible wtf????,

 

I kind of hope it is the last Brand New record. After eight years and many false starts, they just put out what may be a career-defining album that should cement their legacy as one of the most important (not to mention enigmatic) bands in the scene. Why NOT hang it up? They aren't rock stars and there's no reason to suspect they ever wanted to be. To walk away now feels to me like the only option that makes sense, honestly.

 

I'll be happy with whatever decision the band makes, but if they are inspired and want to make records I would be very happy

The Long Goodbye: The Finality of Brand New’s Science Fiction

 

I think I'm going to light some candles and crack open a nice bottle of bourbon I've been hanging onto for my first listen of this through headphones in just a few minutes.

 

nah its next door. the guy that owns the local Subways also owns this particular ice cream shop its connected to it in the same building. i help manage the ice cream shop because its mostly young teens working there and they can get out of hand quickly when left to their own devices. i dont really like ice cream or fudge or sweets or anything so i just hang out serve people and drink a lot of soda.

 

My first thought when I saw the title Science Fiction was rocky horror picture show song "Science Fiction, double feature". And that song was used as the beginning and ending song in the movie. So maybe there will be a brother or sister to this album.

 

Have you ever tried ice cream sodas? Or a root beer float?

 

I mean it wouldn't be a bad way to end it but unless they want to stop I'd like them and all my other favorite bands to make music forever lol. Even if they make some bad stuff in the future, which I think is doubtful, it wouldn't make me enjoy their earlier stuff any less

 

My friend said he wonders if "Nonfiction" comes out next year.

Who knows, I'll be busy with Brand New for a while.

 

@CoffeeEyes17 hard to keep up, do you like this record? Are you warming up on the band a bit? I know you think they are a bit overrated

there is no reason to hope this is the last music from them. They have proven, literally days ago, that they still have it in them. If they want to make more music, there is zero reason not to.
