Well that totally made me day/week/year/life.

Such a great album. I just hope I can get tickets to see them on this tour, tomorrow.

This thing is just monstrous. I'm still awestruck.

Lit Me Up, Same Logic, 157, In The Water, 451, and Batter Up all REALLY stood out to me both times I listened. There isn't a bad or mediocre song on the thing, though. And some of the ones that aren't necessarily on the same level for me as those likely just need more time. I mean, 12 songs, 60 minutes, years of anticipation... it's going to take a while to truly digest.

I really need to go to bed, but today has been absolutely wild, and I feel so fortunate to be a part of it. I can't believe this is real life.

Man, updating my top 20 Brand New songs is going to be a challenge but I'm going to try. First getting rid of songs for new ones will be hard but then trying to order them....

You know I think one of the reasons I rate DAG lower than most of their albums is because while it has their highest highs as a band, it is an inconsistent record. What I really love about YFW, DE, and now SF is that the albums are consistent all the way through, something that TDAG lacks to me.

Oh hey. So I just finished Science Fiction for the third time tonight, and wanted a break, so I put Black Mile on.

Those two records feel like a matched set. They feel real, REAL nice back to back.

Same. I still really like it but it's my least favorite.

I've only gotten to listen one full time through and I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep because I'm absurdly excited to listen to it again on the way to work tomorrow.

So very different but they both show each band pushing their bands sounds to different limits. Brand new went more organic while Manchester went more towards programming and synths, both albums are epic

This has been a long thread and I hadn't gotten here when I said the exact same comment lol.

Good to know what I thought makes sense!

imagine putting what eventually becomes 8 years of work into something an hour long. how do you even decide you're done? that this is the final result you were hoping for? that alone amazes me.

They have a similar feel - they seem restrained and laid back, while at the same time incredibly densely packed and intense. They're different sonically, but emotionally, they elicit similar emotions in me.

Gotta go to sleep. I could listen to this album on repeat until dawn though. Honestly can't believe it's this incredible.

Its sad that 137 will be relevant until the end of time. At least mine.

YFW is consistent alright. Consistently mediocre. ;-)

Good lord the guitars in 137.

I need to listen to this for a few more days to make any definitive statements, but right now Same Logic/Teeth has been the standout for me.

I have to get a list of 29 Brand New songs down to my top 20, this is going to be hard :(

I guess it depends what "working on it" means. Who's to say there aren't guitar parts, lyrics, melody ideas from 8 years ago on here

There could be, yes, but I wouldn't call that really working on it unless they sat down and started writing new music constantly
