  1. Sorry I'm drunk but did I mention that this is the first Brand New album that doesn't sound like it was under the pressure to outdo everything else and completely change directions? Because it is, and it's so much better for that

  2. Crazy, when I saw them doing their discography shows in Santa Ana, half of the venue left when they finished TDAG and were about to start Daisy. It was jaw-droppingly rude, to be honest, especially considering how hard it was to get tickets. I laughed all the way home though because they didn't play "Untitled" until after they finished Daisy and it was this epic re-imagining of the song. All those idiots missed it.

i think the pure surprise at the sample and then SCREAMING at the beginning of vices is one of my most memorable experiences for the first listen of an album

To me it sounds like you can tell it's been eight years and they sound like a new band. Like they shed the baggage of their entire career and just made what felt right.

Absolutely man. Their just so much space in this album for the music to breathe. I love the "simpleness" of it.

  14. 100% agree, this is better than anything I could've asked for considering the time spent

Idk about some of the other opinions on here, but I think the album is balanced well in terms of fast/slow, hard/soft, loud/quiet. Were people just expecting an album of Menes and IAAN ?

The lyrics to Desert are extremely unnerving out of context.

    Context:

Told from the point of view of a bigoted American Christian man, this song is is reminiscent of The Archers' Bow… off The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me.
Here Jesse Lacey denounces the homophobia and anti-migrant hate perpetrated by so-called Christians.

I don't really understand why they put out Mene and IAAN. I mean, they're super careful about what they put out since they're such perfectionists, and it sounds like what they're doing on this album is on a higher level than those two songs, so it's kind of confusing what they were doing with those.
