I don't think either of them would be in my top 100 bands but I wouldn't give you shit for it.

I love this song so much, by far my favourite Clash song.

As for the big older punk bands it's The Clash, Misfits and The Descendents for me, love both of them so much. I got into The Misfits through their 90's era and then delved back to the Danzig years & I know it's generally unpopular but I love both equally as much.

As for the others Ramones, Black Flag and DK I like a load of songs but I'm not a perticular fan of any album. Can't stand the Sex Pistols.

Dizzy, Polaris, and 23 are all closely tied for me. They're all incredible!

whoa holy shit. i dont think ive ever seen anyone say this. thats awesome, that album is super underrated even if i personally think TUO is like one of the best albums of the 2000s. mind elaborating why you prefer M,IS more?

People were disliking The Everglow but praising that cock rock album with the horrible artwork squiggly scribble Singularity?

I mean your opinion is fine haha but I am just so opposite on that one. Hopefully we can at least agree that Destination: Beautiful is still the best thing they did.

Polaris is definitely my favorite JEW song and I'd put it on my "billboard 200" so to speak. Amazing song top to bottom.

Just gonna throw this out but I think The Goo Goo Doll's Dizzy is better than Jimmy Eat World's Dizzy.

I'll give it a shot, because its a little hard to nail down exactly... I do love TUO, but its always felt like the longest / shortest album ever made. Meaning, the songs on it are absolutely top notch, but there is so much "downtime" in between some songs that it feels like those interludes last longer than the songs themselves. Somewhere around the Bloody Murderer / Sierra section, my interest starts to wane until Staying Alive. Staying Alive is an awesome album closer, and the Saddle Creek star studded vocal cameos on that song really make it something special.

On the other hand, I feel like M,IS stays more consistent across the whole record in terms of pacing and song placement. I also really like the way this album is recorded. (I think) it is the first one without Clint on drums? The drums on this album are really impressive and tightly hold the songs together. There is a swagger on a number of these songs that seem unique to this Cursive album. I also think that What Have I Done? may be Kasher's best song. It is excruciatingly honest and relatable. It may not be as epic as Staying Alive, but I think it wins on raw emotion.

So, I don't know if that really justifies my statement or not :-). I mean, don't get me wrong, I hold most of the 2000's Saddle Creek catalog very sacred. I've found that as both the music and I have aged, I began to prefer the later work from many artists on their roster. I think a lot of it has to do with each record sounding better than each band's previous one. Since they were all working together as one big community, the more sophisticated their engineering became, the better everything got.

I'm sure if I looked at my last.fm history, I've probably listened to Bright Eyes' Casadaga way more than Lifted... or Fevers & Mirrors, but I'd never discard either album. I guess that's kind of how I feel about Cursive, too. TUO was groundbreaking and changed the game for Indie rock in a lot of ways. But, like so many other bands, that album became the measuring stick for all the Cursive albums that came after it and I think that made their later work get passed over by a lot of people.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy JEW. But I have never been able to understand the obsession with them.

Dizzy and Gotta Be Somebody's Blues always stood out to me the two songs that didn't quite fit Chase This Light. I really run hot and cold on that album and always found myself wanting more songs like those two on it to balance the record out a bit more. It seems like they fit the mood and tone of Futures better than CTL.

Chase This Light is arguably the best album to come out of that whole scene and "Dizzy" is their best song

I feel like this is a very rare opinion for this site especially.

I absolutely love Futures, but can only listen to it at certain times and then usually all the way through. Chase This Light is probably my second favorite and return to most often. The rest of the albums have some jams I like and listen to every few months but nothing that I'd rate overall more than something I moderately enjoy. I tend to forget about JEW a lot when thinking of something to listen to.

especially the last album, one of my least favorites from them. listened through so many times and i can't for the life of me figure out what's so stupendous about it. enjoyable listen, sure, but boring. i can't even point to things and say "i see why this is so great, it's just not for me."
