Didn't see anyone say this, but I did see some discussion on IG that the smiley issue could be a Nirvana similarity. Again, probably mentioned in here, but thread's moving so fast

Hey pretty much new here but been longtime fan of absolutepunk and finally got myself to create a account....just to the logo.i don't really think is have anything to do with ,,Nirvana issue" since Matt Lovato of Mest has much more similar Nirvana logo for his new band London Falling

 

Are there still blink-182 fan pages that people visit for news or anything like that? Do any exist on a regular basis for many bands these days?

 

I definitely don't think it has to do with Nirvana. The "new" logo is also being used on other promo materials for this album from what I know. I've seen multiple color versions of it.

 

Welcome to the rodeo. I think it'd be easier for a band like London Falling to get away with it than a band like Blink.

 

I wouldnt think so. Its all instagram and twitter.

 

Aside from Reddit, I don't think there really is an active, obsessive community that I know of

 

It's pretty pointless with social media. Rarely ever see them, but it seems like most of them just end up being "Look how awesome _____ looks in this photo!". Twitter basically renders them useless in regards to pushing out breaking information - a band's twitter/facebook will almost always have official information before any fan page

 

Occasionally, I will check 182online, but news tends to be posted there much later than everywhere else on social media. This thread right here on Chorus remains my go-to source for quick blink news.

Pivoting all those years away from one band was a good move. Hah.

 

Back in the reunion days 182online was baller and always so fast with news. Now they just post everything a few hours after it happens. Like, I feel like it took at least a day for them to post about KROQ revealing Bored to Death

Action182 is a massive website for blink fans here in Brazil, with a really cool merch site (better than blink's official, IMO). Their fanbase is really large (115k people) and we have an exclusive group on Facebook to discuss everything newsworthy regarding the band. Sometimes I contribute with news for them, and absolutepunk.net was credited as a source many times.

We are currently working on an event to release the Brazilian edition of Travis' book w/ Famous Stars and Straps down here.
