So, we're about 7 weeks away. What's the over/under on when after shows announced? Maybe next week after Lolla?

I'm guessing we won't get the schedule until at least 2 weeks before the fest, regardless of how much earlier things have been released this year.

 

I'm thinking after shows on the 8th or 9th and schedule on the 22 or 23

Was the $140 price tier still available for you? I'm trying to hold out till I get paid at the end of the month, but if 140 sells out and 150 is left then I'm buying lol

 

I actually bought mine second hand from someone on here.

 

Feels a bit early for the schedule for me. Isn't it usually two weeks ahead of time? I'd put money on the 29th or 30th.

After shows timing feels about right, though. Maybe with the food announcements in-between.

 

The Ataris just posted a tour poster that says this will be at Cobra Lounge

 

Interesting. Must have changed venues or else Kris was wrong on stage.

 

Chicago aftershows were announced on 8/16 last year. Maybe it will actually just end up being next week

Set times were 8/30

 

Probably for the best. There's no way The Ataris could fill the Bottom Lounge in 2017. Cobra will at least be somewhat full for them.

 

Anybody have any after shows they're really hoping for? I'm on the Jawbreaker train. And it feels like they might wind up doing something given that they just played a practice show in CA and will be doing another in a few days...

Feels about right. We're back on the "normal" schedule, haha! I'm surprised they haven't worked another announcement in over the last month or so...

 

I would love a Jawbreaker aftershow but am not getting my hopes up. Seen rumors of a QOTSA aftershow at the Metro and I would be all over that one.

 

I would go to Danzig or Taking Back Sunday aftershows. Possibly Streetlight Manifesto.

 

Beyond Jawbreaker, I'd also be fully onboard with after shows that somehow involved the following: Taking Back Sunday, New Found Glory, Mad Caddies, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the Lawrence Arms, Bayside, Beach Slang, that dog., Hot Water Music, and/or the Flatliners.

In particular, it'd be really cool if the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Mad Caddies did a gig together.

If the show on the 12th is a longer set and/or there's some additional shows they wind up playing before Riot Fest, I may rule it out. But for now? My hopes aren't up, but I'm definitely not ruling it out.

Not sure how much I buy those QOTSA rumors (wasn't it just based on the fact that they did a Lolla one there a few years back?) but... That'd be rad if that happened!

 

I would probably go to anything involving: The Lawrence Arms, Bayside, Streetlight Manifesto, FIDLAR, NFG, Smith Street Band, Menzingers, Culture Abuse or The Flatliners

But I think I'm only going to pick one for the weekend since I do enjoy going out in Chicago after the festival

Speaking of going out in the city, where does everyone recommend hitting up? I've been to Chicago a bunch and love it, so I'm definitely excited to have some fun after the shows are done every night!

Aftershows I really want, but don't want to get my hopes up for:

The Menzingers (PLEASE!)
At the Drive-In (seeing them in a smaller club would be SICK)
The Hotelier
Streetlight
Paramore
Smith Street Band

 

What I've always liked about the aftershows too, is that they can sometimes involve artists not even playing the festival. Obviously, this is a bit harder to predict...

But definitely one of the highlights of my weekend in 2014 was seeing the Get Up Kids with Modern Baseball and the So-So Glos.

 

I would love a TAI... Santi aftershow. I'd also love Say Anything (especially if it was something special - I'm still holding out for an In Defense 10 year). QOTSA at the Metro would be unreal. A Paramore aftershow would be beautiful but I don't see it happening. Obviously I'd love a Menzingers one, especially if they got a cool support band (maybe Smith Street Band or someone like that).

 

Menzingers / smith street together would be awesome.

 

Yeah I didn't think of that. They totally could do one together Sunday and that would be so awesome

 

The Menzingers are out for any preshows or aftershows. Just checked the tour dates.

They have dates September 13th-16th. And then the 17th is Riot Fest... And I highly doubt that they would play an aftershow instead of watching Jawbreaker.

Completely forgot they got added to that Offspring/Sublime with Rome tour.

As far as after show requests go, all I want is for any of the bands I want to see playing Sunday play Saturday or Sunday night. I have waaaaay too many bands that day.

 

I honestly can't believe how close this is getting. 5 weeks from Friday. It'll be here before we know it. My excitement is piquing now that Lolla is over.

On an unrelated note, I wish we got schedules before aftershows because then I know who I'll be missing and should see at the aftershows.

 

Yeah it really sucks because that would completely change my opinion of the aftershows
