I rewatched The Guest for the first time in years yesterday and was able to pay attention to the evident passion in it. I think I'd put it above You're Next at this point

I try, once a month or so, to watch a hilariously awful horror movie that makes me seriously question my decision making skills. For last night we picked "The Sand" and it definitely lived up to the awful expectations.

I never really notice things like pacing / scene structure unless it's truly terrible and The Sand is hands down the worst movie I have ever seen in that regard. A lot of laughs to be had with friends and drinks and it's on Amazon Prime.

I really wanted to like The Guest given all the hype but I found it to be such a slog ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Haha that's awesome. My buddies and I would try and get drunk and watch a shitty movie like once a month and it would always lead to an awesome time. I recently moved but when I eventually visit, Sleepwalkers, another Stephen King adaptation, is next on the list.

It's not great, IMO. From what I remember, it starts and ends strongly but not without going off the rails a bit. I think You're Next is far superior, but the latter is also just more my thing.

Yeah, I like You're Next a lot more. Although, the first half didn't work for me so much on my second viewing.

Not horror per se but I'm watching Battle Royale for the first time since it's on Shudder and it really is quite special. I first heard about it back in HIGH SCHOOL and I'm just now finally getting around to it. One scene I found genuinely shocking.

I liked Goodnight Mommy for the most part

That movie would have been great if the twist hadn't been so, so obvious.

  12. Can someone peep Shudder for me real quick and see if Brain Damage, From Beyond or Society are on there? Any good body horror flicks in general? Thinking about giving it another shot.

I'll have to remember that one for future use!

This one had a fat guy stuck in a garbage can for 50 minutes until he died and his only lines were pretty much telling his friends to shut the fuck up and yelling that he was dying while having a permanent marker dick on his face.

Society is the only one on there.

I think Dead Ringers is there too.

"Annabelle: Creation" was a lot of fun, even if it's formulaic as hell.

I was 99% sure Raw would remain my favourite film of the year, or at the very least my favourite horror film, but The Transfiguration may have just swooped in. I need to lie down

Definitely check it out, but I'd suggest not knowing anything about the plot. Not sure what's out there or if it's very telling, but I'm giving you my word that it's worth your time

Have you seen A Dark Song? That was sweet. Someone else in the thread said Transfiguration was good and I saw that pop up online today though I've yet to watch it
