Oh man, thank you for saying that! That was nice to hear today. Really I'm just a gigantic dork working as hard as I can to maintain that suave, desirable online forum presence.

You can be sure to find me in the Julien Baker thread whenever she announces her new record. That will become my home.

Just listened to METN. I really don't see how ABMTTS will end up being better than that once it has a chance to settle in.

  3. Already think I like this more than METN. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well you're succeeding! I'm still a ghost so I obviously stopped trying long ago. Haha.

See you in the Julien Baker thread!

Yeah I enjoy this a good bit more than METN at this point, but that album, while I do still enjoy it, doesn't do as much now as it did 5-7 years ago for me, so we'll see how this album holds up over time.

For now though, I'm greatly enjoying the new album. Had no expectations for it going in and I'm satisfied. I guess that's all I was really hoping for.

Please. There will be room for everyone.

Low key I'd love to add you on Facebook if you have it and would be comfortable with that. I always enjoy your posts and even though I was on AbsolutePunk for two years and Chorus since day one I still feel like I barely know anyone

@Lucas27 look at my reply to Jose because the same applies to you, along with anyone else in this thread seeking a new internet friend.

Same but I really love METN, I think both records are just pretty close to perfect

I see you @teebs41 lol, we've been Facebook buddies for a minute now.

Back to the album: I feel like it's still way too early for me to say whether or not this is better than an album I've loved dearly for years, but I think it has a very real shot of becoming my favorite Manchester Orchestra record with time.

a burst and I'm awake now Supporter

I am now of the opinion that this is by far and away their best record, and the kind of record I always hoped they'd make.

It hasn't yet, but given where I'm at in my life currently vs. where Andy is – married with 2 kids under 2, and coming from an abusive alcoholic father – I could definitely see this ending up as my top MO album.

Bass playing on the record is really good too. Just little tasteful things

I'm a bit jealous of how you're listening to this album right now, not gonna lie. Haha

Meanwhile, I'm still over here combing through lyrics and interviews trying to make better sense of the story and giving my self a headache in the process. It's impossible for me not to try and understand it while I'm listening and almost as impossible to not keep hitting play. I'm in a cycle of deep love and awe of this album mixed with mild frustrastion. Haha

I think you are close on a lot of your thoughts. One think I took from one or the interviews is that there are no rules when he was writing these lyrics, and I think that is key to unlocking a lot of stuff. Good to know about the moth being a convo between the brothers

this album is everything i've ever wanted in an album

I'm a big fan of dynamic albums with slow-ish openers and a closer that leads into a crescendo. The album has wonderful sequencing, beautiful transitioning, amazing variety, devastating/thought provoking lyrics, and mysterious undertones that can only be interpreted by the listener. The album is beautiful and destructive. I'm blown away by how much this band has grown. I love their other records, especially Simple Math and IMLAV, but the experiences I've had with this record have been transcendent while only being exposed to it for less than a week.

Cheers to all. I'm in awe. Let's celebrate.

The triple threat of The Alien -> The Sunshine -> The Grocery is giving me the same kind of vibes as other one-two cathartic punches from the scene like The Hotelier's Wildflowers -> Life In Drag or Brand New's Limousine -> You Won't Know. They're songs that work so well on their own but are elevated to heights beyond comprehension when linked together, and pushed even further when placed within the context of their own record.

I consider those three songs the second act of the record. I don't think I could listen to one without the others.

I went to watch The Alien's music video for the first time today so I could also watch the one for The Sunshine and I had to finish it off with The Grocery because I felt like something was missing.
