The closest I have to that is stand-up, where most people are years older than me and the one person I've ever started to hit it off with in that way is from halfway across the country.

 

Currently how I feel and I don't know what to do about it

 

Happily in a relationship for about a year now.

 

Everyone getting in a relationship and I'm still forever alone. Can't even get a guy to talk to me. Makes me more depressed because it means every day I'm one step closer to my biggest fear that I've feared since middle school is most definitely coming true.

Didn't know this thread existed and now I'm volunteering to be a part of this.

 

Exactly where I am at too right now. All of my friends, male and female, are in relationships or getting engaged/married and I am still single as hell at 26. Granted that I am still young and have time to find someone, but it certainly bums me out to be that guy who is always hanging around with couples.

 

I'm 25 going on 26. Never had a bf because no guy ever gave me a chance and wanted to date me. Never been on an actual date. The only "dates" we're from guys on dating apps. It makes me feel uglier than I already feel, and makes me feel like I'll never be good enough. I feel like if I can't get 1 guy to date me at this point, why would it happen any time soon. I also hate it when people say "just be patient/it will happen when you least expect it"... Well I'm 25 and single as fuck. How much longer do I have to wait.

 

That sucks. You don't have to answer, but I'm kind of curious how the conversations you have with them usually fizzle out.

 

I don't even know. Guys don't typically talk to me. I've met guys in the past that I felt like the conversation can last forever & them being easy to talk to. But nothing ever happened.

 

I'm turning 25 and I've never been on a date or had a girlfriend. I've been working on my Master's, though, so I haven't really been looking or using dating apps to meet anyone outside of school. Well, I've been kind of interested in one person for the past few years and another for the past year, but I haven't really felt compelled to ask either of them out on more than a friend-date. I think that feeling is changing now that I'm graduating, though. And at least now I think I know who I'm going to ask; that decision has been tearing me apart lately. But yeah, being single sucks sometimes. Ninth wheel at Chili's felt super awkward.

 

@neptune My brother just turned 30 and he's still single and hasn't dated anyone for longer than a year. I guess guys feel less pressure, though. My friend told me about how her dad's like "when you give me grandchildren?" and she's around my age.

 

@neptune there were times before that i was too afraid to make a move just because i was incredibly shy (or the fear of rejection). i know it's kind of a stupid thing to think about but is there any chance you think that it was the case for them?

I've moved on from my failed almost-relationship! Let's do this dating thing, even though I've only ever had one real girlfriend and that was on the very first try and every other date I've been on has been an absolute nightmare. I'm a free man. Someone should date me.

 

I know. I hate that too. I don't even really talk to people I know in person about being single anymore because I know they will give me that answer or some version of that and it's like "I know you are trying to be supportive, but how do you really know how or when I will find somebody?" Just bugs me more than anything.

 

Not sure. It's kinda complicated to explain. Heh.

If you eat more than 4 meals a week together, then you're in a relationship.

I always thought that should be the phrase instead of "talking". "Well, we're eating together now, so things are getting pretty serious.."

 

My only advice is to be at "peace with yourself." Use that negative energy and turn it into positive energy. Find and learn new hobbies: take a cooking class, be active, learn a musical instrument, volunteer at a charity or organization, join a martial art, mosh at a hardcore show, positive mental attitude, go outside and enjoy the outdoors, Be free. Be the best person you can be and don't have your life be defined as being in a relationship or crazy cat lady. Life is too short to be defined or waiting for others.

I'm 28 and have never dated , I'm super shy and still not sure if I want to be in a relationship or if it's just societal pressure

 

I'm 30 and single, and I'm enjoying it. From 18-28 I was never single for more than a few months, so this has been good for me.

 

Pretty much the same for me. I was always in a relationship until this past year, and it's been great for me. I've done so much musically that I probably wouldn't of been able to do, otherwise.
