Things in my relationship are going less than well and if this one ends I don't see myself reentering the dating scene for a long time... but then I realize I'm going on 27 and don't want to be 30 and single. Just an exhausting prospect from all ends. Present, future, all of it.

 

I don't know if I missed anything the last few days, but did the bed conversation not go well I'm guessing?

 

You can't predict the future I know that sounds obvious but it's not

 

A while back I was telling a friend how so many people we grew up with got married so young (including her) and she was like "Well... we are almost 30." We were 24 lol! I feel like I should date because I haven't in like a century, but I see all my friends who are dating and it looks awful and none of them seem very happy. Part of me is like dang I'm happy eating grapes at 12am watching reruns of Roseanne alone, like do I really wanna complicate this?? I guess if u find the right person it wouldn't feel so idk... hard. But I'm also lazy so idk. But Say Yes To The Dress has socialized me into thinking I need to get married and wear an awesome dress. so like idk.

 

I value my alone time. I obviously would be down with meeting someone, but I'm not trying to hurry into something after the last mess

 

The bed conversation went meh but it's one headscratcher after another. I rarely get any time with her and when I do it's void of any intimacy/romanticness. She expects me to wait around for her. We were supposed to spend most of the weekend together and she wound up leaving for the whole thing, but when I make plans it better be a month in advance or I'm satan. Really sick of most of it rn.

I know for certain that I want to get married rather young, but I'm not sure that's going to happen. The last relationship I had that was really healthy was 4 years ago, and I wound up leaving that one completely disinterested.

 

That sucks, I'm sorry. Have you guys talked about that, too?

I would be shocked if I was married by 30 but watch just cause I talk a big game I'll be married with 2 kids in a suburb somewhere by the time I'm 30.

I always thought I wanted to get married and have kids but I think that's because society posits it as the only option, well that or being a weirdo hoarder surrounded by cats

 

after being married for almost 7 yrs i can safely say i don't want to be married again for a long time if ever. pretty soured on that institution.

If nothing else someone should split the bills with me

DINK, but not married sounds pretty ideal to me. That's a huge bet that either:

1. That person will stay exactly how they are so their wants/desires/personality/interests/lifestyle don't change ever and cause any issues later down the road
2. If that person does change, you change at a similar pace, or are willing to change to accommodate that persons change, so you both change together and it doesn't cause any issues

I'm turning 25 this year, so I dunno. Definitely don't want kids, if I get married eventually, cool. If not, cool. I'm just taking it a day at a time at this point, no use in getting stressed over something I don't have that much control over. If I find someone and things work out great, awesome! If not, I'll get over it

 

I don't care if I'm married by 30 but I hope I'm in a happy/healthy relationship.

Hi everything is normal nothing to report guys

 

We have. Tends to go:
- I tell her what's bothering me
- She agrees, apologizes, and says we'll have quality time together ____ (usually the coming weekend)
- Friday comes, she lets me know she has small plans on Saturday and Sunday
- She winds up being gone for the entirety of both days
- I get upset
- Repeat

Turning 30 isn't some finish line, you guys. There's no reason you have to do anything by the time you're 30. My brother is nine years older than me, so when he turned 30 and I was 21, I was like "fuck, take him out back and put that old dude out of his misery," but now that I'm 31, turning 30 is nothing. To compare yourself to some social norm or pressure you've put on yourself at a round number like 30 is ridiculous. Just have fun. Do things that you want to do. Everything else falls into place.
