    Thoughts after a few listens:

The Maze - beautiful. You already know that.

The chorus in The Gold near the end first half just piano and second half full band comes in really highlights the quality of the song

That cut with just the kid's voice in The Moth is spine-tingling

Lead SD is the most 'manchester-y' song on the album - I think even without vocals I could peg it as a MO song but it definitely fits well on here

Alien - Sunshine - Grocery builds perfectly and the vocals near the end of Grocery are just spectacular

The Wolf rips in the best and most unique way

    Don't love The Mistake

Personally I think The Parts fits great...didn't think I would like it but feels right to me in that spot

The final moments of The Silence are a highlight..."Little girl you are cursed by my ancestry" all the way to the song ending with just piano

The Moth and The Wolf are my favorites. The Mistake is my least favorite.

Overall I'm not sure if anything on here tops my favorite MO song (Everything to Nothing) but the album as a whole is probably my favorite.

This will hit me like a ton of bricks during the six 50 degree days a year here in Florida

Also, the order of my favorite songs on this album has changed a LOT except for my Top 3

The Mistake is my least favorite as well. It was the only song that didn't blow my mind

    The rivalry is back on

This is on and it is looping for the third time and I don't really want to turn it off because it's very good

could definitely see myself loving this more than METN with enough time, probably up there with Virgin and SM on first listen already.

We reach for the longest shadow

only 3 other albums have done that to me so far this year: Paramore, Mastodon, and Menzingers. i think i got a solid top 4 going.

Did anyone pick this up from a record store yet? I didn't preorder anything but I might swing by a store on my way home from work

I'm going to a listening party tonight and will probably buy it on CD. I've got my deluxe vinyl and gold bundle at home.

    Cursed by my ancestry

Lead, SD is for sure the most MO song here, specifically the little bridge at 4:09.

The only album I've played basically nonstop for a week or more this year is the Menzingers record, but this might be getting close to that point

The album is such a cohesive experience, it's impossible for me to rank these songs or to pick a favorite... Ah fuck it, it's The Grocery. Yeah The Grocery is my favorite.

Weird. Spotify keeps saying song is not available on anything in this album. Did I reach my limit on the family plan? :crylaugh:

The Wolf is what I thought Cope would be when Andy said it was going to "pound you over the head."

    The A.V. Club.

Also, re-reading through Ian Cohen's Pitchfork reviews of Simple Math and Cope as well as the earlier reviews of METN and LAVLAC.

Damn. Like, I see where they are getting at, but do they review every album like it has to be a master thesis written by Jesus Christ that comes with a happy ending? The tiniest thing they don't absolutely love is written away as if it's Yoko Ono shrieking into a microphone.
