Catching up.

I listen to tons of it - nothing touches my top 10 apparently. I listen to a TON of music though. ‍♂️

Leaving CRJ off my list was so dumb. Please accept my apologies, folks.

After the Party and the greatest generation are probably in my top 20 albums of all time.

I love after the party but idk much more about the Menzingers. My chem died just before black parade for me. There’s a song or two I like on that album but pretty much everything from then on was meh.

My top 5 bands/acts that I don’t love as much as everyone else:
1. Brand new
2. My chem
3. FOB
4. Kanye
5. Gaslight anthem

All have stuff I enjoy so it’s not that - I just don’t get the god-status of these folk

 

Oh man, don't tempt me haha, I could go on for a while talking about bands that are (in my opinion) overpraised. We have the same #1 though.

 

Because I just do. At this current point in time, I enjoy California more. Not to say, again, that I don't love dude Ranch. Point of my post was that liking Cali more than dude Ranch doesn't make anyone more or less of a blink fan. I like all of their albums,and really the only consistent favorite of mine is Untitled. The rest change constantly, and I'll never be ashamed about liking pretty much all blink with varying different opinions on what my liking of each one is changing. If you think Dude Ranch is the top, well that's great it's not an uncommon opinion. It's a good album. But again, carrying on.

Haha. I guess my top five would be:

Brand New
Thrice
Bleachers
Carly Rae Jepsen
Sorority Noise

That's off the top of my head at the moment. To be honest, I can't say I actively dislike most of those, but I'm not really a fan and the level of hype they get around here makes me like them much less.

 

I didn't list Gaslight because I'm a fan of their later albums and their popularity feels like it's waned a lot in recent years, but The 59 Sound is one of those albums I never really liked and edge closer to being annoyed by with the kind of hyperbole that gets heaped on it. The Starting Line also somewhat fits in this category.

It's hard to find bands to cite for this, but it's pretty easy to identify individual albums here and there that fit the description.

Tbh, I also would've listed The Menzingers before After the Party, which is still my runaway AOTY.

 

Cmon man, Menzingers?They are top at this genre at least for me!go listen to Rodent,The Talk,Casey,Gates,Nice Things and lot more!They are so fucking awesome!beside that TOYPAJ and Untitled are the best that's for sure !

 

And I mean don't bring up my favorite bands rank,Iam talking about current scene and I really think that Menzingers are top of top.but again how I said at Menzingers thread I love them especially because of strong connection to my ex.

 

Honestly no one is a true blink-182 fan unless you liked them when they were just named 'blink', have an original cassette tape of Flyswatter, saw them live in Soma and then ate at Sombero.

No. Only true fans of blink get that. The rest are posers...which I did not know was still a phrase used in 2017

 

For the people who ranked California above Dude Ranch: did you grow up listening to that album or didnyou get into their later work first?

I still think it's absolutely the better album, just trying to figure out where the other side is coming from

 

I got into blink right as Untitled was coming out. Went out and bought Dude Ranch, Enema, and TOYPAJ and binged them until Untitled dropped.

 

I started with Enema, didn't listen to anything prior until I'd gotten into Enema, TOYPAJ, and Untitled

 

Perhaps that's it then

 

As a comparison, I got into Green Day right when American Idiot came out, and that's still easily my favorite album by them, and despite Dookie being the favorite for many other fans, I still wouldn't rank it super highly.

 

I started with Dude Ranch and have been a fan since.

Speaking of which I really wanted to see blink play with Skiba at Soma (as a warm up show for Musink, which I already had tickets for) but I felt bad I didn't have enough money for my (then) girlfriend to go so I passed on it.

We broke up two weeks later.
