    I do not exist.

I prefer Simple Math to METN. Sorry.

Won't hear the new one until it's out tomorrow so I don't know how horrendous I am in your eyes yet!

Whilst I hear what you're saying about snap judgements and how some albums don't age well, there are rare albums that you immediately know are going to be with you forever. mewithoutYou's Catch For Us The Foxes and Brother, Sister definitely had that impact for me. Yes, there might be new album hype along the way, but if you're going to say after a few listens it will 'never' be your favourite then you have to give people permission to say that their immediate thoughts are that they find it better than ILAVLAC or METN! We're all different after all.

At the end of the day it's great that you do like it and I'm thankful that it seems most people are saying it's a good album.

Whatever it sounds like, I can't wait!

Jason and drew both said on the podcast that they think it's their favorite. It's okay to think something will be your favorite just know that it may change

    This album is something else...

Show last night was absolutely beautiful. Good mix of songs. The Parts was especially good. One of my favorite moments was Andy yelling into the wall of the lodge and his voice just bouncing around the room. Chills. And ending with Blue. Tears..

Also, can confirm best way to listen to this first time is in the dark whilst making out with your hot date on the bed ;)

Early standouts for me are The Grocery, The Wolf and The Silence but the whole thing is just mindblowingly good

I know, absolutely ridiculous to even think now....but where do they go from here? They've always seemed to evolve a bit on every record. Do they keep diving into the electronic sound? Do they bring back the crunchy guitars? Do they strip it down or punch it up with a collection of indie rock jams? The records seem to be growing more cohesive and thematic with each release. So curious to think about what MO in 2020 will sound like.

I always assumed it was "daydream" because that's the most logical word but thought it might have been "in danger" too

    full Ape Priest LP.

But really seemed like from interviews he said Cope was the last time manchester could of made a loud "punk" record. I wouldn't mind if they went even crazier w/ production. His voice sounds so good over anything, the band format seems a little limiting really. They are pushing that pretty far on this record, but when it gets loud I think their instinct is to go into rock mode, I would be interested in hearing an alternative way to do that.

I want more crunch but also more electronics. All about those dynamics.

also we're getting a new bad books record next year (most likely) and that is really exciting, their last album was incredible.

Story thoughts: so basically the album centers around someone going and shooting up a grocery store, but I think different songs take different perspectives, from the shooter, the shooter's brother or maybe someone close enough to be a former roommate, to random people shopping, etc. It's some pretty dark shit.

This has been on repeat the last day and a half while I've been at my desk at work and after probably 10-15 spins this is definitely my favorite MO record.

We reach for the longest shadow

I didn't get into this band until COPE, and I very rarely listen through a whole album, just a playlist of my favorite songs of theirs, so if I like this one all the way through after about 5 or so listens it'll easily be my favorite.

we're all a bunch of weirdos on a quest to belong Prestigious

I have been listening to this band since the beginning. I love everything they have done. I have absolutely zero problem saying this is my favorite record from them. If its not silly to claim that you know it will never be your favorite, then its not silly to claim that you think it is your favorite.

The first time I listened to The Devil and God I knew it was my favorite over Deja and YFW. I feel the same things listening to A Black Mile To The Surface that I did back in 2006 when TDAG first came out. Sometimes you just know that something is effecting you and connecting with you on a high level, and thats what this album is doing for me. I don't think that should be considered a "hot take"

I also don't think its a hot take to say that Andy is on a different level vocally on this record than he has ever been. Tim's drums have never sounded better, and Prince is a monster on the base. They sound and feel so confident and self assured on this record that I don't think its a stretch to think this is their best.

I mean I think it's pretty clear these are better constructed songs than anything they've done before. Whether anyone has more of a personal attachment to this album or their past work, this release almost undeniably is the most musically accomplished thing they've put out (and I say that as someone who doesn't feel much of a connection to it at the moment).

That's the thing, I haven't personally connected with an album in a very long time, but as I'm about to start my second spin of A Black Mile, I feel a hint of this excitement that I feel every time I spin my favorite albums of all time.

I'm hoping that this hint develops into what I think it's developing into.

I mean people can feel how they feel, that is cool and all, but I just always think it is strange when people can make those claims of GOAT with not much time behind it. I think you can know when something is great right off the bat (I know I like this much more than Cope) but I won't put this into conversation of favorites of all time just yet. Who knows if I'll return to this or whatever album in the future, I mean , I think I will. But maybe it stops connecting with me. Maybe when the shine wears off it isn't as appealing. There have been plenty of record like that for me. Or maybe it'll grow to be my favorite record ever. I just think people should pump the breaks sometimes with these absolute statements. Again, this is all different for everyone but it does seem strange to me that people can say "This is my favorite 'this', or this is already as good as 'this album that is one of my all-time favorites'," before the record has even technically come out.

When the new Lorde album came out, I was ready to proclaim it my clear cut AOTY, but here we are not even two months later and I'd already say it might not be in my top 10. Things change.

Yeah agreed totally. People get so anxious to call something one way or the other they don’t let the album sit and grow. I’d wish we would just chill sometimes.

With all that said, I’m loving all the positivity this album has going for it right now. Even the people who I’ve seen say they didn’t completely love it are willing to spend more time with it and let it sit. That is cool to me.
