Absolutely this. The echoing was beautiful. Not going to lie I teared up just from his voice at the end.

Yeah I dunno, I'm five tracks in and that one is pretty clearly my least favorite so far. Gotta listen to it more to wrap my head around it

On my first listen I hit play and started walking up my stairs. I had to sit down in the middle and finish The Maze before I could go all the way up.

There bc be sunshine resolves right into the grocery.. so the second chord of the sunshine is the first chord of the grocery, brilliant stuff

Was just about to post this! love it.

The Maze is a hell of an opener. After my first listen I reckon I'm going to be listening to this album A LOT. It seems to have a lot of depth.

That real quiet, "there's nothing you keep there's only a reflection" before the second verse or the silence is really cool

This song gave me chills on multiple occasions. Lyrical and structure of the song are so so good.

I've already listened to this six times and I find myself enjoying it more with each listen. So many different highlights. A lot of people have used the word "cinematic" to describe the album that it's almost a cliche, but I really can't think of a better word to use. Sure most of these songs could stand alone and be great songs, but they're next level amazing when listening to the album front to back. A++ work from the boys. Really hope this gets them the respect/hype that they deserve.

If I had to choose between any of these songs and Cope in it's entirety to have for the rest of my life I'd choose one of these songs.

Only had one listen, so these thoughts are obviously very tentative, but I feel weird about this album. I like a lot of things about it; in particular, the production is incredible and I think a lot of the songs have really engaging melodies. From a detached, "objective" standpoint I think it's really good. On the other hand, I felt basically no connection on an emotional level to most of this. Obviously that's the kind of thing that can take time to develop, but it's rare for me to have an experience with an album that, whereas I can step back and admire it and think it's mostly really well done, doesn't hit me personally at all. Of course, it's more than possible that'll come and I'm saying nothing of importance right now.

That said, as I mentioned earlier, the production is impeccable. There are so many cool things in these songs that will take some time to unravel. This also feels like their most cohesive album instantly, with some really clever callbacks and transitions between songs.

I definitely felt a similar way at first. it took a few listens to warm on me. Obviously fatherhood and these fictional stories in a small town are hard for me to relate to, but I can still appreciate it as a great work of music just like you said.
