Linkin Park - One More Light (May 19, 2017) Album • Page 26

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by TEGCRocco, Feb 16, 2017.

  1. I revisited LP's discography on a whim a couple of months ago, and now find myself drawn to it again under these unfortunate circumstances. Even though I grew away from the band around Minutes to Midnight, I always kept up with their new releases and looked forward to seeing how they continued to evolve. They meant too much to me in my teen years for me to ever become indifferent to them. Hopefully in time more people will revisit their later albums that seemed to be dismissed by many once their mainstream popularity waned.

I've been going back through the discography, and my thoughts on the albums haven't really changed. ATS and MTM are still their creative peaks, I really like OML, LT and THP are pretty 50/50, and HT and Meteora are serviceable, but have a lot of filler and bad songs.

But I guess his death isn`t reason for change my opinion about last album yet...

Trust me, Living Things got (in my view largely justified) flack off the fans as well. Seems to be the main reason why they went full on rock for Hunting Party.

Can we all take a minute to appreciate how much of a ripper Bleed It Out is. Always been one of my favourites from them

I though LT had some classic LP songs on it. The first three on that album are awesome.

Probably my favorite from Meteora honestly.

It's okay. I just always felt it was a bit of a regression after Thousand Suns. Castle of Glass is excellent.

"Castle Of Glass" and "Lost In The Echo" are instant classics

Woah this is really cool. Some of these are really making me really appreciate the power of these vocal parts more than ever before.

Living Things has some songs that I would consider some of the best Linkin Park songs ever (Castle of Glass, Roads Untraveled, Powerless, In My Remains, Lost In The Echo), but also some really mediocre to bad songs that bring the album down a bit (Lies Greed Misery, Burn It Down, Skin To Bone etc.)

I think I dropped off somewhere after Meteora - I think I was already deep into my high school ska phase when Minutes To Midnight came out - of course I heard a lot of the singles from the later albums. That's why when I gave Heavy a listen when it came out a few months ago I couldn't believe it was Linkin Park, and in all honesty I loved it.

Listening back now, Hybrid Theory is still an awesome for the nostalgia - I loved every track on that album back in middle school. But almost 30 me likes the new pop direction Paramore and Tegan&Sara have gone in - so I really regret not listening to One More Light right when it came out. It was on my list of albums to check out, since I liked Heavy so much, but didn't give it a full listen until the news about Chester broke.

Lies Greed Misery is one of my favourites from that album.

  14. Lies Greed Misery has so much punch to it. The bridge / ending is one of my favorite parts.

Does anyone else remember the absolute thrashing The Catalyst got on AbsolutePunk when it came out? Adored that song in 2010 and still do.

I definitely remember trashing that song (and the whole album) with my friends when it came out, but now I see how great of an album it is!

Man, Leave Out All The Rest is just absolutely devastating now.

  18. I'm sure someone posted it in here, but this performance just tore me up. I was ugly crying through the entire thing. To sing a song like that in tribute to a friend who died and to sing through the tears with raw emotion like that. It killed me at the end when he couldn't even finish the lyric.

  19. I remember the ATS review as well. I loved the song but went on a rant about the album. It wasn't for me at the time and it has grown on me very slowly. I hope more people start to appreciate parts of it if they didn't before.

It's a good song, but it just has such a long build up. ATS is probably my favorite album from them.

Finally finished their discography. I enjoyed OML more than I expected and the title track is as gutting as people were saying

Songs like "waiting for the end" and "leave out all the rest" make this whole thing feels so calculated. It's so hard. But I'm excited that now LP can cemented into legendary status.

The Catalyst is honestly one of my favorite songs by them. Loved it from the moment I heard it. Still do.

    It is a strange single

I forgot all about Dead By Sunrise. Never listened to it but from what I'm reading it was a very personal album and dealt with his divorce and drug abuse
