It's become an issue now that they do app thinning. The only way you can keep apps that are no longer on the store are with a full backup of the apps to iTunes

 

Did you check your iTunes Store purchases? Usually the best place to find old apps you downloaded that aren't on the store anymore. If you can't get it there you might be out of luck without a full restore from a backup that had it.

 

I'll go back and check when I get a chance. It's just weird how EVERY app I ever downloaded from my iTunes account seems like it shows up, but this one didn't?

 

I just got the 6s today and am freaking out about the 3D Touch. It's so cool! I don't know how much I'll use it but it feels cool.

 

The only shortcut I really remember to use is to access the shortcuts on Settings.app. Otherwise...I never remember.

 

Bought an iPad mini 4 16gb today to replace my very sluggish gen 1 iPad mini. That thing had a delay to every single thing you would touch or do. It worked essentially..... it was just sluggish. This Mini 4 is blazing and should be able to keep up for years. Got it for $222($399 reg) open item at a Best Buy in practically perfect condition just missing the box and it was sealed up in bubble wrap and a large ziplock bag which was odd but whatever.... A pretty good steal if you ask me.

 

Yeah that's a nice deal. 16gb would of terrified me a few years ago but now with so many things stored on the cloud and all of my music listening happening on Spotify I think that's a fine amount of storage.

iPads are great for longevity. I saw a chart a while back that showed an overwhelming majority of iPad owners were those who bought the iPad 2 and haven't yet felt the need to upgrade. Apple probably doesn't love that, but I guess that's the price of creating a quality product.

 

I started to want an iPad until I got a 6S+. It's enough of an improvement over the smaller phones for web browsing and reading that I really don't think I'd get much benefit out of an iPad anymore. Maybe it'd be more comfortable for Netflix in bed than my Mac.

 

Yep, I'm absolutely with you. I really love the Pro's but can't even begin to justify the price when I factor in all that I can do and would continue to do on my S Plus.

 

I know that this is off topic - but I just installed a new hard drive cable in my MacBook Pro and holy shit does this thing have a new life. I upgraded the ram to 16 GB, the hard drive to a 1 TB, and the next thing on the list is the battery. Anyone have any good battery recommendations? I thought about just buying one from from iFixit.

 

IFixIt or OWC (macsales.com) are, as far as I know, the most reputable places for that kind of thing.

 

About to pull the trigger on a new MacBook, probably the base model space grey!!!

 

Ok.. The 2015 model is selling for $929 refurbished right now from Apple. New one will run me $1250 after my student discount. Which would y'all choose? Are the upgrades worth over $300?

 

That's a really tough choice. $929 is a really great price for the Macbook, if I was in the market for a new laptop I'd probably jump at it. With a minor processor and battery boost I don't think the new one is going to improve the experience that significantly, but you might consider that $300 an investment in longevity.

 

Granted my experience is over a decade old but I had terrible experiences with refurbished iPods and never again will I go that route with electronics.

 

Anyone know why iTunes is sorting some of my music incorrectly? For example, I have a bunch of Springsteen but it sorts into two identical "Bruce Springsteen" artists - for some reason the new River box set sorts into its own artist and won't consolidate even if I manually change the artist title, sorting options, etc. This happens with a few other artists as well. Anyone else had this issue?

 

If someone knows please let me know. I've had this issue before.

 

Same thing happens with Brian Fallon for me. 12 separate artists, all with identical data. Infuriating.

The Microsoft word flow keyboard is up now up on the app store. Currently using it to type right now this post and it reminds me why I loved having third party keyboards on Android

 

I've only messed around with it a little so far this morning, but the swipe feature works really well compared with other third party keyboards that I've tried in the past. Could see myself making this keyboard my primary.

 

Same here. I was surprised considered how bad they were when they were introduced back on iOS 8. Only one thing I would miss would be 3D Touch scrolling

 

Definitely. Have you messed around with shifting the keyboard to the right or left corner? Only tried it a bit, haha but it kind of throws me off that way.

 

I only have tried once and threw me off but I'll try again probably since I have a 6S Plus haha. The swiping part is so good and fluid and as good as it was on Android when I had it

 

I tried the Microsoft keyboard. It's not good. The fact alone that I couldn't turn off the sounds drove me nuts.
