The musicianship argument is one I've had with so many people.

If technical performance is what you're looking for, just watch people shred on YouTube.

And to act like the 1975 guys can't hold their own at their craft is daft.

 

It's not that, they do a wider spectrum of things with their instruments in a very different genre. I saw someone make disparaging remarks about them and I had no intentions of comparing apples and oranges.

I agree with not continuing it in here. I love both bands greatly. The 1975 are where they are because they are amazing at songwriting, thematic albums, and structuring. When I made my comment it came off differently than how I thought. Owning it, and my mistake.

 

If you're in metal/hardcore your goals for your instrument are completely different so idk why this is even being discussed, also technical skill means nothing if your only output is rehashed hardcore?

 

And there it is. Funny I got called whining but clearly whatever cord struck has brought more moaning on the opposite end.

 

Also Counterparts is a great band, as is the 1975. But yeah, such a bullshit band that's rehashed with no talent ripping off older hardcore bands. 1975 purists, see: the 80's.

I always forget the 80's is just one sound and not a decade where hundreds of thousands of different albums of different genres came out

this band is inspired by bands from the 80's but they don't sound like they're from the 80's at all

I make statements based off what I read and laugh very hard when people respond so angry over conversations via the internet. It's not whining. Just because you call it whatever you want doesn't it make it reality in everyone's world, just yours.


And the new album sounds entirely straight out of the same vein of many big acts from the 80's. I love it, but again, be honest with yourself about this band.
