So...just finished reading through the thread. Definitely have to echo Valencia and The Forecast, so I'm stoked that they've been a bit more active recently. Also really wish Conditions would do something new...what a solid band with unique lyrics. Loved how uplifting yet raw they could be.

One band I didn't see mentioned was Stanley and The Search...their only album in 2012 fit perfectly into all the pop punk I was listening to. Still jam "Chin Up" with my friends.

Also, want to throw out the bands The Pilot, Safety Word Orange, and especially Brighten, which I don't think have been mentioned yet.

  2. Never too late to talk about Ivory! Glad to see some more love for them. Coast Of Maine is a great track, band deserves to be so much bigger than they were. Coincidentally enough, it's Nathaniel's birthday today! Haha.

    I really miss Hostage Calm

  5. Brighten just released a self-titled album this year which is pretty great IMO. Definitely recommend it!

Whaaaat?! Heck yeah! Last I knew Brighten didn't have any social media accounts so I never knew where to follow them. Thanks for the heads up! :D

I love that Stanley and the Search album. Chris, the singer from that album went on to record an album with the ex-drummer from Yellowcard in a band called This Legend a couple years ago and just released a new EP last week with his new band Stations Creations. In case you wanted to hear more of what he's been up to. Really cool guy, terrific songwriter.

Oh awesome, thanks for letting me know. Do you know what happened with his project "Bad Form"? I know all they released was an EP. I was worried he had stopped playing music because those first 2 bands just kind of disappeared. Anyways, I'll definitely check that out!

I think most of the Bad Form songs ended up on the This Legend album. I could be wrong. Most of the guys from Bad Form are in Stations Creations.

Ahhh that makes sense. Do you know why Chris left/got kicked out of Stanley and the Search in the first place?

    oh, god so many...

Forgive Durden (really interesting direction they were going in, solid act)
Klaxons (remember Nu-Rave? these guys had a lot of heat back in 07 and were pretty interesting..)
Dear and the Headlights (love love love this band, no clue why they stopped outside of just disinterest or indifference from fans)
Matchbook Romance (Really liked Voices (pre-ordered it even), thought this band could become really interesting)
OURS (saw them open for Circa in 07, never heard about them ever again...)
I Was A Cub Scout (one album and done)
Tapes N Tapes (THE 06 buzz band if you recall, well maybe, but they pettered out quickly after that year)
Zox (back when sideonedummy was signing very interesting and good bands, which they might still be, but after 2008 went kaput)
Youth Group (fell off the planet after 2007)
John Ralston (amazing songwriter, probably didnt get the fans he deserved)
1997 (mentioned previously, kind of stopped caring about them after that first record which was very over-looked, is the pregnancy thing true? wow)
Farewell (i remember hagling with the lead singer for a shirt-CD combo back in 09 as I only had $20 and wanted both, he didn't comply, oh well still got the shirt. in fact it's a GIVE ME A KEG OF BEER TeenWolf shirt that's still awesome)
Nightmare of You (That last album was not so good, but love the self-titled one. I did tell BR how much I loved that record last year when I saw The Movielife)
PlayRadioPlay! (became Analog Rebellion and was a fan of Dan for a long time, I think he just moved on, but I do love he called out Forever The Sickest Kids' lead singer for being a tool bro)
Young Love (never a fan, but gone fast)
Emanuel (seemed destined for big things, but never came to fruition)
The Photo Atlas (a strong live band that went into obscurity)
Dr.Manhattan (really creative and catchy, haven't heard from them in a long while)
    Damone (should of been bigger)
Moneen (saw them with Say Anything long while ago)
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (seemed to have a big following and then gone, never really liked them, but damn that was fast)
Cute Is What We Aim For (same thing, just gone after one album that didn't do anything)
Amor For Sleep (They seemed to be popular, what happened?)
Secret Secret Dino Club - I think I remember this band/guy signing with Drive Thru when I don't think DT was even a label anymore. the bandname always comes to my mind though for whatever reason
Halifax - Another Drive Thru band that was super popular 12 years ago, and then nothing.
Count The Stars - Good pop punk, no clue what happened
Natalie Portman's Shaved Head - the epitomy of band names gone mad

I actually wrote a review for As Tall As Lions in college when they played my school in 2009. Always liked them, never loved them.

    She haunts the roads

CIWWAF did put out a 2nd LP, then they disappeared. Recently though, they did a 10 year tour for Blood Rush and were opening for We the Kings, so it looks like they've been trying to get some momentum back.

As has been reported here, though, their singer turned out to be kind of a skeezy guy, sooooooo.....

  14. Some good ones here...

Ours is still a thing, their fifth album is due out this year.
Youth Group returned from hiatus last year and have a new album coming this year. Super excited for it.
Pretty sure Nightmare of You is done, but Brandon Reilly just finished recording a solo EP that will be released in the next few weeks.
The singer from The Photo Atlas is in a pretty similar sounding new band called False Report.
The singer of Count the Stars just released his second solo album this year under the name Cities by the Sea.

Had to include Young Love and Damone just to say that I loved those bands back in the day.

Ah, well I wonder if anybody came out....

I saw them at Warped in 07 and it was kind of depressing how big the crowd was compared to The Starting Line. To be fair, TSL was like, the first band to play the main stage. I'm sure kids weren't even there yet.

    Ah, thanks for the update.

Anyone remember Brazil? They were kind of a more prog-rock version of ATDI. They gained some steam with A Hostage and the Meaning of Life, but I think they're second release didn't do so well and they just stopped.

Every interaction I had with those guys (Mainly the singer) always came off as douchey. Anyone else besides me get those vibes or was I the outlier?

I spoke to them when they came to the UK and they seemed really nice so who knows. Regardless, good band.

I've been listening to a couple episodes of Taylor's Strange Nerve podcast and he's been joking on how people said those things about the band.

He just seems like a funny guy perhaps unaware of his actions at the time

My friend toured with Superheaven in the Daylight days, and did an acoustic house show together. Their only banter in this small ass living room was "My doctor found a lump in my throat. I hope it's terminal" before launching into a song. Seems like a happier guy these days, which is cool.

Jar is, for my money, one of the best RFC releases. It's great. The follow up had some good songs but didn't have that same impression for me.

That's so damn funny. those dudes are so grunge and I love it. Always coming up with clever downer shit to say. I saw them in SLC once and they were Talking shit on Imagine Dragons the whole time. I loved every minute of it.
