I only really consider the original songs on Short Songs when ranking it. I don't think I even finished the second half.

Maybe this is just me, but Shane's voice in the beginning of Aquamarine reminds me of Mark Hoppus from blink-182

    music is all we got

my Silverstein hot take is that Wind Shifts and Short Songs are the only records that matter

I do find the spoken word intro on the SITS song painfully cheesy, especially the first couple lines. One of the best songs on the record but I have to skip that part.

I look at all the Silverstein albums as equal because each one had its own importance to me when it first came out. I've really enjoyed the way that they've progressed as a band. And I think that it's a real feat that Silverstein is able to keep their signature sound while still diversifying the music. A couple of the 4 songs that were released so far I wasn't sure about at first, but after a couple plays I was digging them. Super excited for this release on Friday.

I got my vinyl today, Beautiful as expected

But legit, about this album's lyrics: Who hurt Shane?

There are some really brutal lyrics here, like "You love playing the victim" "You'll always regret this" and "Your sins will slowly plague you, until you die alone"

Like jesus, what has he been through?

starting my first listen through now. first song was great, the bar is as high as ever.

as for the lyrics, i feel like shane has often had pretty, idk, accusatory lyrics for lack of a better word. outside of concept albums though i guess you don't hear much about meanings as they relate to his personal life.

edit: on second thought, the plague line is pretty savage, and i just saw that shane responded to someone on twitter asking about the f-bomb with "i was pissed." so that explains that haha

my god this album is so good. shane sounds his best, it's got some of his best lyrics and melodies, the guitars sound huge. on first listen i'd say its their most consistent album. more pop punk influence than i expected, and cut and run is the only song i don't love, but man that was a rush.

Yeah this album has been my go to in the gym this week. Shane has managed to pull off like 4 different types vocals all at once on one album haha. He absolutely kills it in on this album. I also really enjoy the production.

Album is really good. Not sure where it will sit in my personal ranking yet, and I don't think it could ever take TIHTWS's throne, but I could see this becoming my second or third favourite.

Loved my first listen of the record. Vinyl is gorgeous and matches the artwork perfectly.

This will be on my upper tier of Silverstein records by the end of the week.

Seems like this was already answered but if you listen to his podcast he talks a little more about it. In a nutshell, bad breakup leaving him single and alone at an age where most of his peers have families.

First listen through now. I'm on "The Afterglow" which is incredibly good. Loving my first listen of the lyrics "heartbreak in a STL parking lot" was heard while I'm wearing my Cardinals shirt.

Any else noticing the lyric call outs to past songs? I think I'm right here..I'm hearing Call It Karma & Places of Solace references.

First listen I heard the In A Place Of Solace, but missed the Call It Karma reference. What song was that in?

Afterglow is the only song on here that I think is legit bad. Too many chorus repeats and given the dark places this record goes, it feels really out of place. Rest of it is pretty ace though. The last 3 songs in particular.

Ghost is an older song so maybe this has been noticed but Shane says drowning in the silent seas in the latter part of the chorus.
