I think he outperformed Beyonce on their joint tour 3 years ago tbh. I might go out to this if cheap tickets end up on stubhub.

Beyonce was easily the best live show I've ever seen (lemonade tour) and I've been to an ABSURD amount of shows.

Awesome to see a big rapper still play San Diego.

Looking at you Kanye and Kendrick.

His rapping on "Marcy Me" might be the best on the album. The syllable use is incredible.

Agree that Kingdom Come has a strong opening and ending but the middle was bleh.

    American Gangster tonight

Also it's strongly likely I will try to go to this tour

Listened to American Gangster and The Blueprint 3 over the past two days. Really fucking liked AG, definitely lived up to the hype for me. Like I said a while ago I was looking forward to TB3 because I love the features and for the most part I really enjoyed it, though the Drake and Cudi features were disappointing, but I've always loved all the singles from that album, especially Run This Town, so it was a good listening experience overall.

    TB>TBA>RD>AG>TB3>Vol 3>Vol 2>TB2>D:RLF>Vol 1

My BP3 placement is probably controversial

I've heard WTT a million times so I'm not sure I want to include it in this, might just skip right to MCHG. On the other hand, I've never heard WTT with context from Jay before, just from Kanye, if that makes sense, so maybe I'd enjoy it in a different way this time. We'll see if I feel like it

Your in to deep now to stop, you have to listen to Streets Is Watching, the Best Of Both World albums and that fucking Linking Park thing.

    Also, watch Fade To Black.

  13. I just noticed he doesn't have any of his albums on Spotify. That's annoying, but understandable.

...Why is MCHG not more highly regarded? I really, really liked it, all the way through. Some of his best production and most interesting flows. I don't get why this one is hated on at all.

Finally gonna listen to 4:44 tonight, then I'll be all caught up!

Also, tickets to this tour are crazy expensive

I actually really like that album. I think that MCHG and WTT represent a shift to a new style which is what divides fans? That's my theory

Yeah I definitely noticed he kind of stuck with the WTT sound which I like a lot

I felt like it seemed phoned in a bit, like there wasn't much that he put a lot of thought into. I did like it though. I need to revisit it, haven't heard it in a long time

I'm a MCHG fan definitely, "Holy Grail" and "On The Run (Pt II)" alone are enough for me to be happy

Honestly I listened to MCHG once the day it dropped and never again

I only listened to it once because I did not like it at all, so I could be wrong but the way I remember it is that he had nothing to say on that album, or at least nothing that grabbed me. Jay Z is my second favorite rapper (R.I.P. Biggie) because so many of the things he said and stories he told mean so much to me and I feel like none of that was on MCHG.

Speaking about Jay's discography: the track from Best Of Both Worlds 2 that I still go back to is "We Got Em Goin" with Memphis Bleek. There is no proper version on Youtube. Besides that track (and maybe some others I don't remember) that album was a mess. I don't really remember BOBW1, but I seem to remember people liked it at the time.

Also I know I'm repeating myself but you people really should listen to Streets Is Watching OST, haha.

And I have now officially heard every Jay-Z album, when about 2 weeks ago I had heard zero.

4:44 is really fucking good, totally lived up to the critical praise it's getting. The production is incredible throughout and Jay's rapping is up there with his best ever. Damn, I'm so glad I did this.

Got tickets to the tour today too, really looking forward to that now.

Final (tentative, fully plan on listening to these more) ranking:

    TB>TBA>RD>AG>4:44>MCHG>TB3>Vol 3>Vol 2>TB2>D:RLF>Vol 1>KC

I kind of had a feeling I would like a lot of his modern stuff more than most people do, I'm a sucker for great production and I like modern production better than older sounding beats a lot of the time. I'm really glad I went through all of them though, it was an awesome experience.

I might get around to listening to Streets Is Watching and some of the collabs at some point but for now I'm pretty Jay-Z'd out lol

Okay I am officially finished taking over this thread
