Brand New does... all the time? They have 4 albums, you named 1 example that I'm not seeing the comparison in, and they haven't had a new album in almost a decade. It's not silly to bash bands that blatantly steal as opposed to writing a melody that winds up sounding similar to another.

Seether's rip off is an almost exact match for the lead riff, the vocal delivery is almost an exact match, and the lyrical pitch and style is LITERALLY the same. It's not even close.

That interview is your proof? A clearly very sarcastic response to two VJ's very dumb interview questions? It was painful watching the band become more irritated with the stupid things they were saying.

"I never thought this day would end / I never thought tonight would ever be this close to me" from Logan to Government Center is lifted from "Close to Me" by the Cure

Most of the words to the back half of spinlight are taken from Chumming the ocean by Archers of Loaf.

I don't like Seether, but brand new borrows from influences all of the time, so why shouldn't Seether?

Again with this "all the time" with references to albums from over 10 years ago.

I see the similarities in the lead solos for 39 seconds between the first examples, but a blatant rip off? Questionable and not nearly as blatant as lifting an entire song like Seether.

C'mon, be fair, it's been almost ten years since we got a new album from these guys.

Edit: wow that Seether song is bad.

Noro= Dead Red Eyes by Archers as well. But that one has been brought up plenty.

And there's this. I love Brand New but it's inevitable that they borrow or take influence from other bands. No one is completely original. Seether just did it worse haha.

    Damn, that's spot on.

I'll admit that Seether is less subtle about it.

Oh what about "yellow" by Coldplay?!

Didn't Jesse start playing Boy into Yellow? I think he did it into Trailer Trash too.

I was trying to be funny. Also, I've literally never seen a single episode of DBZ.

Brand New also borrowed a couple lines in Jaws Theme Swimming from Kevin Smith's Dogma:

"But I've seen what happens to the whicked and proud when they decide to try and take on the throne for the crown."

Hmph. Straight from Matt Damons argument with Affleck before he transformed into batman

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Another: "Out of Range" quotes "Life Like Weeds" by Modest Mouse. To say Brand New doesn't borrow from other bands a lot is just not true...at all. Everyone pays homage to their influences. Brand New is no different.

If they ripped off "white trash heroes" I would not complain at all.
