The Wolf wouldve been a better single than The Alien as far as this record goes.

"The Alien" works great as a standalone song. It may tie into a larger narrative, but it is also a self-contained story.

Also "Piano Player" is a great song, both standing alone and in the context of the album, and given that it was the song the band chose to provide the first impression of the album, it is/was a perfect lead single choice.

I have to say I'm a bit surprised, I thought he moth would be received the best out of the singles but it doesn't seem like it has. Idk it hit me really hard on my first listen but that was in context of the album, I wonder if I had heard it like everyone else I would feel the same.

I agree man. This hit me super hard. I know I have recency bias but this is up there with my favorite MO songs easily. I'm kinda confused by the lukewarm response. Especially since @Jason Tate said he thought it would be a fan favorite.

The Alien feels like the "ok aaaand BIG REVEAL HERES WHAT THE ALBUM IS ACTUALLY ABOUT" kind of song which is odd as a single choice. im still parsing out what this story is but The Alien feels like the big moment where the story takes a turn into the surreal and the odd.

theres also definitely a sidestory about one of the boys either shooting up a store or killing someone which The Alien makes reference to with a bully that presumably pushes this kid to do whatever this awful thing is hes done.

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

What are people saying about The Moth? I sure as heck love it more than the first two by no slim margin. Not to slight the first two, especially Alien, but they're growers. This feels more accessible upon first listen, and should have allowed more listeners to connect faster.

I've just read a few lukewarm receptions online, also some of my friends as well. My fiancee loved it ha.

Same; also miss 3 year old is currently yelling "MANNASTER, MANNASTER" because she wants to hear The Moth for the 19th time.

I enjoy it but it's definitely not had the impact the first two singles did for me - but I'm reserving full judgement until I hear it in context of the album as those who have heard it seem to feel that's the best experience for it.

Memories from a Shore is one of my favourite Andy songs. His voice sounds so good on it. And the line about the hat is amamzing.
