there are periods when i won't go on dates, have any matches, or really even talk to anyone new for months, and then there are periods will the opposite will happen so i dont know, i just try and make the most of when things are going good. i've learned not to get my hopes up or invest too much into things now because eventually it'll die down or things will end and it'll start allllll over

Only because this is "dating and relationship" related. So I'm pretty sure my friend is back with her ex, again. I don't know what time this is that she took him back. He keeps cheating on her, wants me to be there for so, so I do, then she wants to have a "girls night" where he ends up showing up because they're texting each other. I'm done being there for her with this guy. They're just going to get back together and when it's suppose to be the two of us hanging out, he appears. So it's really annoying.

Should have asked / clarified earlier - are you interested in this girl at all? I assume so, but also don't want you messaging her just because someone told you she liked you and now you're trying to force yourself to like her just to send a message.

Not to put more pressure on you, but if you do like her, what's the point in waiting? Also, what if that other woman told Ashley she talked to you and now her entire weekend is crumbling around her because she's constantly checking her phone for a message from you and confused as shit as to why you haven't sent one - or has decided you're not interested?

Let's say you message her and she (jokingly) asks what took so long. Are you gonna lie and say you were busy chopping firewood, surfing? or reading to the blind or some shit? You'd better tell her the truth of, "I was shy, thought it would look bad to text before noon on a weekend and consulted with a bunch of strangers online I've never met that are just as bad as relationships as me. Yeah, thought that would help first."

Just message her. "Hey, this is Dylan! So and so said I should give you a shout. That was pretty neat news to get and made my night! Sorry you weren't at DSA (or whatever the acronym is). What's going on, how's your weekend?"

Oh yeah, she's really cute but I didn't get to talk to her very much at the last social she was at, because again, i left right as she was coming up to our group.

girl i have been hanging out with, but haven't put a label on it yet got upset yesterday because she asked me who i was going to a concert with that evening (i did go with a female, but we have been close friends for like five years), and i didn't immediately respond because i was busy at the moment she had asked. maybe fifteen minutes had passed from the initial text and she was like "well its kinda shady you decide to not respond with who you are going with"

my immediate thought process: ????

 

Had you been immediately texting before that back and forth? Like, were there only a minute or so between texts up until that one? If so, I can kind of understand why she got pissed (although don't agree at all with getting mad about that) but if it was like the first text or if the length of time between answering wasn't any more than it usually is then that's a red flag to keep in mind going forward.

Which makes me realize I hate the indication that I'm / people always by my phone / available to text 24/7. I've had friends text if I want to get dinner and if I don't respond asap then texts five minutes later will be "fine guess not!" Or "so no or what????" And shit like that. Let's not think for a minute that I might be busy, left my phone in the car while I ran in the store, am at the gym, or at work or any number of other things fucking people do without their fucking phones.

 

i mean i was working out and was texting her in between sets (every five minutes or so, perhaps?) so i had just decided to hold off on responding until i was done. i guess in hindsight i should have been more quick to respond, but i also didn't think she would take my delayed response as being "shady".
