i think The Gold and The Alien thing is intentional because theyre kinda connected story wise.

btw if you like Stranger Things youll probably like the concept/story of this album because its weird as fuck from what im understanding. i dont have the lyrics yet though im hoping theyll send them to me but no dice so far

btw im an idiot it just hit me today what "im like a virgin losing a child" means, jesus was born from the virgin mary and andy is using the metaphor of mary having a miscarriage of jesus to explain his loss of faith

No. I'm pretty sure he means he's so lonely it's like losing a child (the worst pain) and he hasn't even had anyone to love in the first place (virgin) which would usually at least have to happen before a child. He hasn't lost his faith. He just battles with it. In live versions of Where have you been, there are dueling versions of "God where have you been?" and then "My son/child, where have YOU been?" It is explained in their mini documentary on the Let my pride be what's left behind CD.

as far as the story goes, The Gold makes references to what sounds like a divorce as well as several references to a mine shaft/mining which i believe is what the "black mile to the surface" is referring to, this old kinda possibly supernatural mine shaft. The Alien sounds like its referring to some kind of fight between a bully and one of the 3 sons that make appearances throughout the album. im not sure if theres some connection between that but im assuming that whomever the man is that works in the mine shaft is the father of these boys. it also seems to take place in a small town in Georgia since Rome, Pleasant Hill, and Lawrenceville are all name dropped

Haha yea, I'll never take anything on here seriously, just here to have fun talking about music.. and I'm fully aware that sometimes I don't articulate the things i mean well.. a lot of my friends say I should be a music writer and I usually answer saying that while I have a ton of musical knowledge, I don't always articulate my musical thoughts well with words.

literally just got a surfer blood show cancelled a few days ago here too, this angers me so much

 

i legit have like half of the picture and thats it as far as the story goes. honestly its reeeally abstract but there are still lyrics that hit close to home and show that Andy has pretty much always been a great lyricist and has been clipping at the heels of other great lyricists in our scene for quite some time now.

Really surprised that Manchester would knowingly bring a band on tour like this. Could this be a move by their management and maybe the band didn't know about their history? Hopefully if it's brought to light the band will remove them from the tour

just goes to show fucking white dude bands can get off of anything when very talented poc and non dudes struggle

 

Oh boy. Why don't we all take a moment to step back. Realize this was probably a management decision. It is only 3 dates in the middle of Texas. It was 4 years ago, the guy did his time, realized how he messed up, faced punishment and went to mental rehab and will probably never be a musical success long term. Just playing in some little known band until he burns out at 30.

Rather than having 10 pages on the forums and giant tweetstorms, let's focus on the two real openers TJ and Foxing.
