Native Fortress was hard as shit, as was that last jump of Hog Wild.

Currently trying to get that green gem. There's a certain jump at the very end before the final three boxes that I swear is screwy. I try to line up in the center but always end up missing to far to Crash's right, the perception is weird. Sucks to get all the way without dying just to die by what seems to be a glitch.

I think the game is difficult, sure, but there does seem to be some strange stuff going on as well.

Edit: I only played the original once and spent a ton of time playing 2 and 3 back in the day. That said, the jump in this remaster (only played 1 so far) is really annoying. Even just a simple jump requires a lot of effort and precision. That's my biggest gripe.

Yeah it's definitely difficult but that's not why I'm dying. Like you said, glitches. I'm having a very hard time not destroying my controller, haha.

Edit: Also, it's total BS that extra life boxes disappear even after a game over.

Double edit: FINALLY beat Native Fortress. There is just no way the ninth level of this game should take two sessions and several hours to beat, lol. Seems like this and Hog Wild are the main offenders. Hopefully they fix it with an update.

YES to your edit. This is a 2.5-D platform. It controls as if it it were some kind of open world, 3D Mario game. The isometric camera just doesn’t lend itself to that and it almost breaks the game. I’m currently doing the Ripper Roo boss level and I feel like on the PS1 game one press of X would just jump far enough to jump one platform and if you really misjudged it you’d fall in the water. Here you need to be so precise that you can over jump it or miss it completely by almost any angle, when it looks like you’re dead on. Things that work on one play through don’t work on the next. Deaths end up feeling less like “ah I screwed that up, one more try!” and more like “screw this game and everyone who made it and all of their families I’m going to break this disc in half.”

Lol this sounds like just stupid trigger rage over a game where I’m just failing but it realt is just a matter of poor controls. It makes me feel better to see people all over Reddit having the same exact issues, lol.

For what it’s worth besides the controls this remaster is really great.

My sister just got the remastered as well and had multiple game overs on Native Fortress. I had my problems with that level on my first playthrough, but after multiple playthroughs I could play it without dying or only losing a life.

I remember being incredibly bad on moving from crate to crate on the boxes suspended in mid-air, but I really nailed it down in the remaster. I like the difficulty of the first game because for me it becomes that much more rewarding to beat Slippery Climb in one life

I've almost finished Crash 2 and I don't think that's much easier honestly. There's not as much tricky platforming in 2 but there's a lot more thrown at you. Still haven't even touched Warped.

Crash 2 was the one for me. I'm so excited to get to it. I finishing a 100% run through when they announced the remaster, so I play it pretty regularly still.

If I get to Warped and still have similar issues I will know it’s the remaster. I’ve beaten that one many times and played it all the way through not too long before the remaster was released. The other time I’ve played more limitedly/it’s been a bit longer.

No because I got past Native Fortress so I’ll either finish 1 first or wait until I get too mad to, haha. I’m sure I’ll end up powering through it though.

I kind of hate that A remaster outsells a brilliant, new IP, but can't say I'm surprised.

    cool now remaster CTR thanks

Weirdly I only owned CTR as a kid and only played bits and pieces of the traditional Crash games at friends' places. Kind of tempted to grab the collection.

I know it's not a Naughty Dog game, but I enjoyed the hell out of Crash Bash. A CTR remaster would be my priority, but I'm all for seeing Crash Bash again.
