I hate when guys lay it on thick. Like overly praising me for knowing how to exist or something. It almost feels condescending? I suppose it's part of my brand of being a cold person lol but its weird. Not just compliments cause that's whatever. idek how to explain it. Exaggerated example lol but I feel like they're like "wow u know how to turn on a light switch AND put on your shoes? I never meet girls like you!!" And I'm just like yeah I can even walk and talk at the same time!!

Just cut them loose. I did that last year with a close friend of close to 12 years. Once he stopped smoking weed, he became a huge misogynist around our friends and was basically a chore to be friends with.

I have a date set for this Thursday with this suuuuper cute girl who has a three-legged cat and a feminist blog. She's on vacation with work friends at the lake but she's still been texting me fairly often and snapchatting me. I'm watching my parents chocolate lab Maggie this week while they're on vacation so I suggested we meet at the dog park near where she lives. I'm unashamedly using Maggie for extra charm.

My internal cynical pessimist bitter self is telling me she'll ghost or ditch me this week after she gets back, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Welp guys, I actually got dumped last night, didn't really see it coming. It was very civil and mature thankfully, mostly it was the fact that we have been more really good friends than anything else this past few months, she wasn't happy with it, I couldn't argue with it. For some reason I didn't fight it too much. Only slept like 3 hours but I've talked to a bunch of people about it today and feel better. Bleh. Still a weird feeling though.

Sorry to hear about your break up, but it sounds like you've got a good attitude about it already. What are some of the things you're going to start doing?

 

Recommit at my gym and get this fat gut off me first of all! But theres also stand up classes I been meaning to take, my boss does improv and goes to a school she can set me up with. I've done stand up before but would like to take some classes and they have bi weekly shows where I would be able to practice.

I once wrote a five minute stand up set to do at an open mic and I when I pulled into the parking lot of the bar it was at I did one of these:



Right back into my car. Funnily enough, now that I feel like I have the confidence to do a stand up set, I feel like I'm not as funny or self loathing (not that you have to hate yourself to do comedy, but comedy from pain is just easier to do) to actually do a set. So props to that. I also think about seeing if there are improv classes in my area, too.

 

I did it one time, it was horrifying, it was a surreal experience. It went well thankfully, but a lot of the people knew me so I guess that helps. Confidence is so key, you have to believe in your deepest self your jokes are funny or people are gonna sense that you have no idea what you're doing. I'm a believer that delivery is like 60% of the battle.
