Still think he can get 1100-1200. Bortles actually plays decent when the other team is in man coverage, he just can't read zones at all. The more Fournette can make them stop calling zone, the less one sided our offense is and the more respectable our record will be.

 

Did you not see last season? Or the Rams?

 

Our WR talent alone gives us a better chance than the Rams to offset our running game. Come on now. Bortles is pretty bad but he takes enough Fitzmagic esque risks, and has good enough WRs, for the opposing defense not to get too aggressive.

Last season our lack of a running threat meant they could call zone all day and wait for Bortles to throw INTs. Adding both Albert and Cam along with 4net wasn't exactly a bad job in terms of shoring up that issue.

Also 1100 isn't that lofty. No I do not think he will be anywhere near as consistent as Elliott was. But he will have some big games mixed in with some hard ones.

 

This is addressing two different things though haha. I'm saying in the situation you pretended he can overcome, he won't overcome it. I agree, it's different than the Rams and LSU. But if the defenses play the same against us as they did against those teams, then it's Bortles having the good year, not Fournette.

1,100 is an excellent year. I think he'll be in that 900-1,100 range. But also yes, it was a very bad job in shoring up that issue. They signed zero free agents to the line, traded for an overpayed player past his prime coming off injury, and drafted one linemen - the most divisive OL prospect in the draft.

 

We got two new offensive tackles, one was an all pro recently and one was a second round steal. Don't downplay the context like that hahaha.

And we also signed Earl Watford, not a world beater but a startable free agent. We also took Jeremiah Poutasi off the Titans hands as a swing lineman to manage injuries

 

Branden Albert isnt good anymore, bruh. I'm just warning you. He was also never a good run blocker.

 

I'm acknolweddging the context for what it is. Albert isn't very good anymore and Robison, while I like him, was the most controversial player in the draft. Is he a right tackle? Can he play left? Is he a guard? What about off the field? We should've drafted at least another guard and tackle. If we believe you can never have too much depth on the defensive line, why isn't the same true on the offensive line? Especially when that unit is far weaker.

If Blake Bortles can't read a zone defense, then he can't read coverage at all whatsoever.

 

Yeah he can't. I'm not defending him haha. He plays better when the other team is in man to man because he doesn't have to process as much. And because our WRs are pretty good at winning one on ones.

 

Because you don't rotate offensive linemen mid game to keep them fresh, like you do with DL. When they say you can never have enough depth on the DL, they don't mean it because of injuries or talent - they mean it because of stamina.

Regardless whether Robinson is a right or left tackle, we need both haha. Yeah he was polarizing, but in the second round he's just good value wherever he ends up. I'm glad we took him where he was valuable and didn't reach in early RD1 for an incomplete tackle prospect again.

 

I hate to break it to you but unless the jags ol staff is incredible, he's likely more of a guard.. at least for now. He's really Square. I mean you'll play him at tackle out of desperation and who knows, maybe he'll be good or maybe he'll be awful and you'll still be using a top 5 on a OT next year

 

Nah, it'll be a QB and not top five. Which is hilarious because the one time we actually need that top five is when we won't get it.

And it will be Lamar Jackson. And I will be VERY sad.

More or less how I see it. Both Albert and Cam being horrible is a possibility, i don't rule that out.

I think it's likely at least one of them will be better than both Parnell and Joeckel but how much better is the question.

 

Poor Leonard, maybe he can sit the season

 

I've already prepared and accepted him leaving in four years anyway.

 

He might be ultra worn down in 4 years
