How's this for a take:

While Mean Everything To Nothing used to be my favorite MO album, now I don't think it's really that great and is probably my third or fourth favorite album they've made.

 

I actually don't care for them as much as I used to. I used to call them one of my favorites but as a whole I'm not sure I truly love any album. All of them have incredible songs but they all have stuff that doesn't hold up for me. Simple Math is probably their best.

 

i really like METN but have heard maybe three other songs from them

 

ILAVLAC is my favorite, with Simple Math in second place. Interested to see how I feel about this next album bc the singles are giving me very high hopes.

 

interesting take! it's held up extremely well for me and remains my favorite from them not just for nostalgic reasons, but because i still think it's that good. out of curiosity, what is your favorite mo album?

Sleeper 1972 alone makes ILAV my favourite.

 

I blame NHL08 for making ILAV my favorite.

 

ILAV is my favorite by a long shot. Pretty much everything from Where Have You Been to Colly Strings are among my favorite songs from MO.

 

I think Colly Strings is my favourite of theirs, but Craig is (nearly) right about how good The River is.

 

The greatest thing about "The River" is that long pause between "I'm gonna leave you the first chance I..." and "Get" the last time he sings it. I fucking love that.

Not all of these bands are punky grind like earlier Napalm Death nor do they focus exclusively on political lyrical content, but they're all bands that have at least a strong base in grindcore and have lyrics that are non-misogynistic and not focused on shock value. Dead in the Dirt, Insect Warfare, and The Afternoon Gentlemen are probably my favorites out of the bunch.

Yep. They never put out an official announcement about it, but they aren't a band anymore. Hank (their drummer/also a guitarist in Foundation) plays guitar and does vox for a skramz band called Slow Fire Pistol. Blake (guitar/vox) moved to Idaho and started a new death/grind band called Infernal Coil. Both are pretty solid.

ILAV > METN = Cope > Simple Math

 

METN is still definitely my favorite from them. I'd put ILAV second.

 

Simple Math below Cope is a travesty.

 

I much prefer Cope to Simple Math. I think SM is alright, but it can really be a drag to listen to sometimes

I like Pensacola a good bit, but does anybost think it feels a little out of place on the album?
