Artwork was what made me drop off as a huge fan. I still like Lies a lot more although no way near as much as I did back in 2009.

 

The bonus songs/shallow believer stuff are way better.

 

I guess for me, who was in highschool when the first two albums dropped, everyone had those albums and were like the biggest band. After Lies came out it seemed like no one cared anymore, and I certainly thought it was a huge step down in quality. I didn't have much expectations for Artwork, but I have a habit of supporting bands no matter how fallen off they get lol. I was so surprised by Artwork. It seemed darker but still had a lot of melody and catchy songs where Lies felt like it tried to clone Love and Death but not very good.

 

I initially hated Artwork. Then a few years went by and now I love it. So many good songs on their.

 

Artwork is great but the 1st album will always be my #1. I need to relisten to Lies again. Haven't listened to it front to back in awhile. I always think I don't really care for it so I don't listen to it as much, then when I listen to it I love it and then I forget about it again lol It is a constant cycle! Except Liar Liar. I don't think I will ever like that song lol

 

Yeah the first 2 are still pretty solid too. Like you said Lies is def hit or miss. The one that I liked around that time more than Lies is Berth.

 

Ya Liar Liar has to be one of their worst songs. Those lyrics are cringe worthy

 

I loved LFTL when it came out, but I don't go back to it much anymore. Then Artwork came out and I hated it, but now it's the one I go back to the most.

 

I would contribute a lot of LFTL sales because they were coming off ILAD and they had all those fans carry over. I also contribute Artworks sales to the response of LFTL

 

I stand by my post. LFTL is a pop rock masterpiece.

Such a great album with so many memories attached. Happy 15th anniversary!

 

Welllllll a lot of that was a bit over dramatic, but it is definitely crazy that that album is already 15 years old. I looooooved it when it first came out, and I still love a lot of it. I remember hearing rough mixes and demos from the album before it came out because I was friends with some of their friends. I remember going to their first show after being signed, and it was one of the craziest shows I'd seen up to that point. It was their first time playing "on my own" and a couple other songs and it was just awesome. Blew my young high school kid mind.

15 years is so crazy to me. I found that album at a really critical time when I was at my lowest point mental health wise. I would probably be dead if not for that album. The first time I heard them it was at my cousin's house and we were watching Fuse and they played the Taste of Ink video. We both loved it instantly and we kept trying to find out info on the band but we kept searching "The Used" and kept getting used cars and dumb shit like that lmao But we finally found them and my mom bought me their CD and I listened to it on repeat all the damn time. It completely changed my music tastes and (hello I am a cheeseball) my life. 15 years later and it is still my fave album of all time.

 

Still one of my favourite albums, I love it so much.

 

Ahhh I want a new album from these guys immediately!

 

What's with the unanimous love for Artwork? I thought it was terrible when it came out and I can't remember a single song from it.

 

People finally coming to their senses. Artwork was always awesome. Seems like a TBS-New Again situation where people hated that album when it came out but have come around to it.

 

Except that New Again has always been TBS's best album ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: Since I'm already digging my grave. I actually think that Lies for the Liars is just as good as the debut and In Love & Death. Might be because I didn't get into them until LFTL was released, but still, it defined the spring of 2007 for me. I fell in love for the first time, smoked my first cigarette, graduated middle school. A lot of memories are associated with that album.

 

Haha I'm with you, I've always thought NA was one of the their best and loved it from the start.

 

I've always loved Artwork and I've always hate New Again! I was just talking to a friend yesterday about New Again and how I just cannot get into that album. And Cut Me Up Jenny makes me irrationally annoyed. I hate that song so much.

 

Awesome! Might blast it on my way home from work today!

 

Gotta jam out Summer Man, Lonely Lonely, Everything Must Go, Swing and Carpathia!

 

New Again is so damn boring, aside from 2 or 3 tracks max. Really just a snoozefest
