are you me? I've listened to that one several times on repeat at least once a week the last month or so.

 

i just say i like hip hop, punk, and folk

 

Hip hop, electronic, and metal are my three most listened to genres but metal also includes hardcore and skramz so I guess I should just say heavy music instead

 

yeah i kind of include hardcore in with punk even though they're very different haha

 

alternative or indie music is my go to.

 

I think my most listened to genre is rock? But that is so nebulous. That includes everything from The Menzingers to Circa Survive to Paramore (Although I wouldn't call After Laughter a rock album) to The National to MewithoutYou. So I don't know.

EDIT: I'm lumping in indie rock with "rock" here, and I guess whatever "alternative rock" is

 

I'd say pop is my main genre because even when I branch out into other genres I tend to enjoy the more poppy or accessible stuff the most.

 

yeah i like pop structures, melodies and themes the most, but i can't really say "i like pop music" because that makes people think my favorite artists are taylor swift and katy perry

when the person asking seems genuinely interested and not just making small talk for whatever reason, i go in depth. formed very strong bonds with a couple of friends after introducing them to Peripheral Vision

i really really hate the "what kind of music are you into" question. yeah i never know how to answer it without sounding like an asshole.

 

I normally say "I like indie pop" because it's a vague enough distinction that pretty much means the same thing as "I like pop music", but then top 40 stuff isn't the first thing to come to mind.

 

mean everything to nothing would be a better album if you cut 'the river/jimmy he whispers'. 'everything to nothing' would work better as the closer and 'the river' is one of the weaker tracks on the album.

 

I usually tell people my favorite song is "Panama" by Van Halen because fuck you thats why

If someone asks me that, and I have my iPod on me at the time, I'll usually just hand them it and say "Here, you figure out what I'm into".

 

we need to get more political grindcore. feels like a lot of recent stuff (that i come across on bandcamp anyway) has moved back into the stupid misogyny/shock value stuff a la Anal **** or generic metalcore lyrics and less of the Napalm Death type

I do that sometimes but then I have to explain I listen to some things way more frequently than others. Like, if they scroll by Radiohead and Big Sean I hope they don't think I like them the same amount lol (since I have a few of his songs on my phone but the new update doesn't say how many)

 

honestly i listen to too many bands that nobody's heard of for the ipod handoff to be useful. you'll see a lot of big old school rappers, a smattering of 70s folk groups, and a bunch of crap from bandcamp that i and 8 other people listen to
