I disagree. I think most of the enemies in Bloodborne are so aggressive and difficult that the health regen isn't enough to balance it and the bosses are way harder, not to mention the chalice dungeons.

I think Bloodborne's the most difficult.

the only thing keeping me from going back to this game is the fact i need to farm vials and/or blood echoes so i can buy vials. really frustrating and sorta boring. the aesthetic is the best in the series though. it will always hold a special place with me cause it was my first souls game.

Have you finished it? I find at a certain point it's so easy to get them that it's not a problem. Most of the game I had enough anyway, it's only at certain bosses would I run out.

yeah i beat it forever ago. i mean the second time around i have less of an appetite for it i guess.

I started a new character specifically to but it was close to DS3 releasing. Now that I've finished that, I'll probably give it another go sooner or later. I've heard nothing but great things about some of those bosses

Yeah, three of the best bosses in the entire souls series are in it imo. Plus some great locations and lore.

I thoroughly dislike the return of the anor lando knights. Bunch of dicks.

For what it's worth, this is my first real attempt at a soulsborne game and I'm not struggling nearly as much as I did with DS2.

I'm not experienced with these games at all but I'm currently just past the catacombs and have defeated all the bosses within 3 attempts - including the Abyss Watchers who everyone kept telling me were insanely hard. The skeletons in the catacombs and the pyromancers in the following area (forgot its name) are way harder than any bosses so far.

My only gripe with this series is that it's so easy to miss things because the game refuses to give you even the slightest nudge. I explore every nook and cranny but I still miss some side quests because I didn't do something in the right order or whatever.

That's one of the great things about it though. So many secrets. Gives it a ton of re-playability. There's a ton of nudges to things though, they're just very subtle.

Yeah I hate those goddamn skeletons that will combo you in the catacombs. Not the basic ones. The tall ones with robes, and occasionally red eyes.

Ugh the smaller dancer enemies in the Irithyll city are really annoying. They're crazy fast, and have wayyyy too much stamina.

Irindyll /Anor Londo is where the difficulty really skyrocketed for me. Just took down Aldrich, took 3 hours haha.

The dude who invades you at Distant Manor is a fucking ass.

Edit: I just ran to the next bonfire, and he died. He possibly fell off the cliff.

I just got DS3. Before I dive in, can anyone tell me the following things:

    1. Whats the current consensus on the PvP meta level?
    2. Does this game have an equivalent to soul memory, or does matchmaking work like in DS1?

    Thanks.

    1) Not fully decided yet, most people are still saying 120 but that seems pretty high since most people seem to beat the game around 70-85.
    2) no soul memory, but your weapon / upgrades are apparently factored in to prevent SL1 with end game / upgraded gear invading low level players.

This game takes a dramatic turn in difficulty after the Abyss Watchers. The catacombs onwards make everything beforehand feel like a tutorial. So many frustrating enemies. Just beat the Dancer so I feel like I'm not too far from the end now.

I've been working through this one way slower than the others, for some reason. I beat Bloodborne in six days (not six full days in-game, play sessions spread out over six days) so compared to that this one is taking way longer. That said, it's great to be back working through a Souls game again. I just got to Irithyll and I have to say: wow. From has created some truly memorable locations in this series but they really outdid themselves designing this one.

And yeah, ditto all the Catacombs grief. Those fire clerics or whatever they were are some of the most annoying enemies in the entire franchise. Although, to be fair, they did end in two not-so-tough boss fights so that's the trade-off I guess. Can't wait to keep going.

Just got King of the Storm/Nameless King left to go, then i can put this away for a bit. This fight is really tough though!

I started NG+ today. Got most of the rings/spells/gestures I could get on my first playthrough.
