The idea isn't to target trump voters. It's that these "right policies" will be recognized as such by trump voters, among others, and they will be broadly popular

  2. But that's wrong. We have the data and know that's wrong. Those voters are the wrong ones to worry about at all. The policies to win over the low propensity voters aren't going to be recognized by the Trump voter I'm talking about and will specifically alienate them. You have to lose those voters to reach the group to win and the 40%+ that are not engaged.

You underestimate American racism and ignorance. Not a chance in hell I think UKIP voters can even come close to holding a candle to what Trump voters, especially white Trump voters, are.

I will be condescending when people attempt to condescend to me.

Because the data is in, the opinions are in, and the studies are in---we know why the large, large, large majority of people voted for Trump. The small sliver of people who simply aided and abetted the racism and xenophobia are not my worry or my target. They are the exception, not the rule.

Also you can't post dismissive gifs and replies and then get salty when someone replies in kind. Snark meets snark.

Jason already pretty much addressed your part about Obama voters...Obama to Trump voters are not the path forward, especially if you want a more left wing party. But as Jason said, they are not as numerous or election swinging as everyone seems to perceive they are.

Two wrongs at least make for some humorous snark, instead of the usual communism isn't happening/you're just a neoliberal paragraphs long discussions that don't need to be rehashed for the 7828th time.

People here seem to think said economic platform will get the white people to not vote for a virulent racist....I think the tweet thread in question provides at least some anecdotal evidence that white people will find ways to racialize even the things they themselves benefit from.

Not funny in and of itself, but I do go back and read the back and forth and imagine it being said with attitude out loud and it makes me laugh a little lol.

Though sometimes some of it is legit funny.

FYI on my post, I've seen mulan like 10 times... 5 times in the theatre. I hope that doesn't make me a bad person. I was like 8.

well while you're laughing at your own posts those of us that mostly just read this thread and the discussions instead of jumping in (which is what ive been doing since coming back) will be wondering what the hell is going on and why we should even bother opening the thread. again, do you, but from the outside looking in no one's winning and the constant one upsmanship competition going on is a huge turn off. and im coming at you on this because im much more willing to understand and empathize with the minority posters venting frustration. the white guy clapping back just to clap back is always going to look worse to me.

It's not just my posts I'm talking about/laughing at....

I'm not going to do some bullshit "they go
Low yougo high" nonsense. If someone gives me attitude I'm going to give it back. As long as it doesn't devolve into name calling and insults, which it def used to do back in the day...

  21. I mean, if you have 2 candidates offering poor people nothing or little or snake oil, but one is racist, yeah racist people will vote for the racist. But if you have a racist offering poor people nothing and a not racist offering poor people a lot, I think at the very least a significant amount of racists might vote to get stuff. Although some of that is undermined by narratives that giving poor people things is impossible (which is why it's extremely extra harmful that even liberals will parrot this narrative), but that's why the welfare state needs to be rebuilt in general. Theoretically that could even be a centrist project, but not so long as centrism=neoliberalism, which is intolerant of the welfare state.

I mean, being blunt and simplistic is not really that low, imo.

Most Trump voters are white. Most of them
Voted for him because of the racism. I'm
more worried about the Dem voters and potential left wing voters that stayed home. They're the path forward, both to win and to have a more left wing government. If that's "condescending", then whatevs, in guilty.

Yeah but this ignores that HRC was offering poor and middle class people a pretty large amount of stuff.
