The only time bipartisanship can be found is to punish a country that just had a terror attack with sanctions.

I don't get what the point of this is. Impeaching Trump doesn't mean a Democrat takes office, they still have Pence as president to make judicial appointments. And Pence would be easier to work with than Trump. Trump's base potentially revolting has to be the only reason they haven't gotten rid of him yet.

  8. worth noting that republicans are like 2 state legislatures from being able to pass amendments to the constitution themselves and render the court redundant

Well, they're going to lose New Jersey this year for sure. But yeah, the elections next year are probably the most important midterm elections, at the state and national level, in years.

that and ~not a lawyer~ this seems like the type of thing that's a "one shot, one opportunity" ie. there's not enough official stuff yet to impeach that gets the RINOs (I don't really know how many there are in Congress) to flip

Oh there's definitely enough stuff by now to impeach, they're just choosing not to do it. They had less than this on Clinton in the 90's. They certainly don't have enough smoking gun evidence to give them the political cover they need to impeach without electoral consequences, but in a world where MoCs don't care about staying in office Trump would be on his way out already. It's just that they're all afraid of getting primaried by a Trump fanatic next year if Trump's base turns on them. I'm still doubtful that a majority of GOP MoCs want to work with Trump, most of them would undoubtedly prefer Pence, but they think they can't do it safely yet.

As I've seen several people both in here and elsewhere on the internet say, if they get slaughtered in the midterms next year and the Democrats retake the House but not the Senate, I could see enough senators getting behind impeachment. But not before then, it's looking like.

Phil Murphy is a monumental assclown and I wouldn't bet on him winning anything. But the good news is he's facing Chris Christie's deputy in the election (and chris christie has a 16% approval raiting rn)

Not so much faith in Murphy as just recognizing that this is going to be a big rubber-banding election due to everyone's hatred of Christie.
