yeah black cement definitely helps. for tours though i imagine booking agency helps as much if not more, much easier for booking companies to stay within their own realm, however that excludes so many bands that deserve to get tours, sadly.

 

ive tried to like sorority noise, but their vocals bother me, along with front bottoms and modern baseball. i cant get behind that style at all, i wish i could.

 

Have you checked out the new record? I feel like they seperated themselves a bit from those bands mentioned above with it. Idk I don't really like front bottoms and modern baseball (besides Holy Ghost which i enjoyed) but I like sorority noise a lot more.

 

yeah, hopefully the pinegrove/turnover likes can break the barrier and get tours with the likes of DIIV and whitney. no reason why those bands need to exist on separate planes. pinegrove are probably closer to that realm than im giving them credit for though.

 

i did, but it wasnt a very hard try. probably gave a song a listen once, said, yeah sounds like SN, and didnt do much else.

 

This makes no sense to me.

 

Animal Flag would be an incredible opener for them. Make it happen.

 

Well B&C did tour with Manchester Orchestra back in 2014 and Pinegrove did a tour with Kevin Devine late last year at a Philly venue roughly the same size as the one ManOrch hit in 2014 with B&C. I know compared to some of the venues ManOrch is hitting this time around that thr KevDev tour last year seems small, but I'm under the impression that KevDev is a fairly big, or at least respected, name in our "scene" so cool for Pinegrove getting to be on that tour. Good exposure.

 

Pinegrove way outdrew KDev on that tour sadly. If anything it was good exposure for KDev because at least a few people stuck around after Pinegrove. At least that's how it was at my date.

I love KDev though

 

Yeah. I'm not going to stand around and watch 2 or 3 openers for 2 hours if I don't enjoy their music. If I do enjoy their music, then yeah, I'll go in the venue. But if not, I'd rather be at a bar eating/drinking with friends until going in to see the band that I like.

 

Pinegrove are already recording their next album. I think they might be the first band to come out of this "scene" to fully transform into an indie darling that all publications and critics fawn over.

Just listened to an interview with Andy from 2012 he said he had 70 songs written for METN and 70 songs written for Simple Math and on METN only used 1 of them and one Simple Math used two of them. I want to hear those other songs! ha

 

also the song simple math is about having an affair and dealing with the truth of right and wrong...didn't know that ha

 

Idk that this is the first time. I'd argue this has been happening frequently already since about 2011 and the emo revival stuff. Bands like touche, Joyce Manor, twiabp definitely got more and more favorable press as time went on, and even older bands got sort of retconned into that situation as writers who grew up with them became more prominent voices (Thursday and brand new come to mind). And then there's bands like Cymbals Eat Guitars who made that transition in reverse and are well regarded in both kinds of worlds

 

I wish they would bring Republic of Wolves on tour with them. Those guys need a good tour

 

How does this band pull in ny thinking about going to that show as well.. should I grab tickets to ther one tomorrow or would it be safe to play that one by war? Seeing this band 3 times in 5 days wouldn't be weird.. right?

 

Yep. This is why I've always sort of scratched my head when people say the song is nonsense or meaningless or whatever.

 

Deer is my favorite song from this band. I'm probably the only one lol

 

The procession is a crazy good song

 

I love the lyrics to that song.

I wasn't feeling the new song at all. Hope the rest of the album are bangers

 

The Gold is such a gorgeous song, can't wait for this.

 

Deer is one of my favorites as well.

 

He played Deer acoustic at The Bell House a couple years ago. I loved it.

Also played a song called Married that I liked a lot. Don't think it was officially released
