  1. It’s my third most listened to album of all time according to last.fm. Which sounds about right.

That reminds me, I should start using last.fm again. Does it work with Apple Music streaming?

It's up there for me, as well. Did you ever get to use CloudScrob for last.fm?

Yes, if you download an App called CloudScrob. It's 99 cents

Is your favorite Beatles member Ringo?

I legit haven't listened to the Beatles enough to know. Haha. I've only heard a couple albums and obviously all the hits

This thread is making me need a cigarette. I don't even smoke.

It's either top 10 or very close for me.

I definitely like it more than Sink or Swim most days, but I feel like my biggest issue with that record is the production. I think Sink holds together a little better as a full album, whereas Get Hurt is a huge mess elevated by three or four of the best songs Brian ever wrote.

  9. I did. It’s on my phone now, figure I’ll run it once a month or so to update counts accordingly.

  10. I use Simplify on the Mac, and downloaded the CloudScrob app @truelovewaits recommended. I think there’s some free Mac apps that do the same thing, but I like having the currently playing song on my menu bar ... cause sometimes when I’m listening to new music I wanna know what song I’m listening to.

That's awesome. Just remember it won't count the same song twice per update. So i'll usually scrobble if I'm listening to a record I've listened to recently, again.

Do you know of anything you can use if you download it to Windows?

Everything Brian has done has been great. Guy puts a lot of heart and soul into everything that been released.

  14. Not off the top of my head, haven’t used Windows in a long time. I’m sure there’s something though.

    1) More R&B/Soul sounds like American Slang to me, that album always had that vibe to me, especially/specifically Diamond Street Choir. But he never explains what the next album will sound like correctly anyway. They always sound like Brian Fallon and they're always great so I wouldn't worry.

    2) American Slang is massively underrated by Gaslight fans, in my opinion.

    3) I would think both BF and FT albums will be out by Xmas. These are not Coldplay albums, these dudes get it done quickly.... FT is done with his by Sunday I'm pretty sure, he is playing a show in Fort Worth before he leaves town - tiny little venue, 2nd time he's played there this year. It's gonna be awesome, first one was......

    4) I thought during Handwritten/Get Hurt album cycles BF really got into his own head too much. He was weird in interviews, he was standoffish and argumentative, he let the press really get to him whenever they did any critique or said anything that wasn't "YOU ARE THE GREATEST". Too much talk about how big they were trying to be which set himself up for a fall. I love those 2 albums and it bothers me that the band broke up (seemingly) at least in part because he's so goddamn sensitive and needs affirmation all the time. It felt, to me, like he ran away at the first bit of adversity he had ever gotten. Who cares that the critics weren't over the moon for Get Hurt? I mean honestly, he acts like it was some giant flop and that is not accurate at all. It may not be anyone's favorite Gaslight album but it is a worthy album in their canon and has some very good to great songs. It wasn't Chinese Democracy for god's sakes.

Yeah I would agree on the r&b/soul point there. Never got that much from sos/t59s, but as def had some influence

American Slang is anything but underrated. I feel like most of the time I see people talking about how underrated it is yet I never see anyone talk bad about it. Their most underrated album is easily Sink or Swim.

The fact that some people list American Slang 5th makes it, by my definition, underrated.......

I can't say it should be any higher though. Handwritten has some of the band's lowest lows but also some of the highest highs. I have it around even with American Slang.

I think the band themselves underrated it as well. Used to get 1-2 songs max off that album during a 20-25 song show, on most recent tours. With 1 of them almost always the title track. She Loves You, Bring It On, Boxer, those are top tier Gaslight songs (for me) that they rarely play(ed).

Boxer and Patient Ferris Wheel are my two least favorite "big" songs of theirs. They play them at every show it seems like.

Orphans and Old Haunts deserve more love. Spirit of Jazz is also the best on that album aside from the title track.
