I really hope they do but they probably wont or if anything it'll be some weak apology from Shaw about being caught up in the moment, he didn't mean it "that way", blah blah blah and then the mouth breathing idiots who think using that word is acceptable will complain about things being too PC or how it's not a big deal. Way too many people stupidly crying about freedom of speech gave me a headache last night.

 

I would be surprised if they did anything about it. The fact that the NHL has taken this long to suspend him is already an embarrassment.

 

If it was any other league I'd expect different but the NHL, and especially Bettman and Campbell, have shown they're behind the times and out of touch.

It's honestly amazing to see people try to defend Shaw's slur by bringing up past incidents and being like "where was the outrage then."

Or the "they say it all the time so why should being caught one time change it?"

Hasn't won 4 games in a row since late 2011 so I fully expect the Caps to choke now.

 

If you've watched the same three games that I've watched, the Flyers are literally crawling on the ice. You may not win by 5 again tonight but you'll win one way or another.

Being from the Chicago area and a huge Hawks fan myself, I haven't seen any Hawks fans defending Shaw for either his on ice meltdown or the slur, with everyone agreeing he deserves a suspension or at the very least to be a healthy scratch as discipline. I will apologize to those of you who have encountered shitty fans trying to justify it, but please do not see them as representative of the fans as a whole.

If there is any poetic justice for his tirade, that may have been his last game as a Hawk and he cost himself a ton. He's a RFA this year and with Panarin's bonus for being one of the top scorers in the league, they probably weren't gonna resign him due to cap room, so he just cost himself big money wise with another team.
