The production of ILAV is fine. It's not anything to write home about, but it works for the songs. That album feels so bare and moody, and I feel like that gets reflected in its production job. I'm glad it doesn't sound so polished or beefy. I'm not sure that would work for the album overall with songs like I Can Feel Your Pain, Where Have You Been, Sleeper 1972, Golden Ticket... I think the songwriting on ILAV is strong enough to give those songs a punch without needing to beef up everything in the mix.

Going to be away from my computer/phone from 11:30 a.m. til 1:30 p.m. so will likely miss announcement. But I don't think it's coming near me anyway, so it's double depressing.

I never have been able to get into Bad Books. I like all the artists involved so I thought it was something I would naturally like.

I revisited bad books II this weekend and really enjoyed it. I wish they blended Andy and Kevins sound more rather than it sounding exactly like a KD song or exactly like an Andy Hull song

I think they do that a little better on II than they did on I. But still I agree with you

I'm right there with you with Kevin Devine. I can't get into his solo stuff but love Bad Books. Below are my favorite

    Bad Books:

    You Wouldn't Have to Ask
    Please Move
    Forrest Whitaker
    It Never Stops
    Pyotr
    Petite Mort

I really wonder if they will be able to sell out the Fillmore in Philly thats a pretty big venue. Menzingers did it but they are a philly band.
