Both top 10 bands for me (Oceansize being top 3) that received practically no attention, even for being "non-mainstream" acts. A crying shame.

  2. Into the West is another all-time favorite of mine. What an incredible record.

I miss this band a lot. I thought they were coming back after their singer wasn't sick anymore, but I guess nothing came of it...

They used to be called Pilate if you can find their first album released under that name you will love it. It's called Caught by the Window. Hands down one of my favorite records of all time.

  5. I own it, but I haven't spun it enough to get well acquainted with it. Sounds like I need to get on that!

Have you heard Holy Weather by Civil Twilight? I checked out that album after seeing them compared to Pilot Speed. Great, great album in a similar vein.

Story of the Year released a reimagined version of their first album a couple years ago and toured for the 10 years of that album. They said they were writing a new album, but nothing more was said since late 2014.

One band I miss: Monty Are I. I loved Wall of People and Break Through the Silence, but they vanished after that. The singer is now a touring musician for 30 Seconds to Mars and I think one of the others is doing photography.

I have a feeling that I'm always going to feel as though we never got enough music from Fireworks and that they never got the recognition that they deserve.

Burn In Silence is the one that always comes to mind. They released one album, went through some lineup changes, and eventually split up before ever recording anything else.

The album is one of my favorite metal albums.

The singer put out a record with a band called, Acaro in 2012, but I haven't heard anything else since.

Yes you most def need to get on that. Every song on that album builds and delivers. Awesome all around the whole 13 tracks. You should also try to find their second record released in Canada under the name Pilate called Sell Control for Life's speed. It's similar to Into The West but the tracklisting is not exactly the same. Very good. I loved this band shame that they faded away.

And yes I've heard of Civil Twilight and think I've listened to that record but I don't remember it grabbing me too much tho. Actually I just checked and it wasnt Holy Weather. I'll have to listen to that one!

  21. Sweet, can't wait to give those albums a few more listens. The build and release is what that band does so well that makes every track captivating. That's also what Holy Weather has in common on a lot of the tracks. I would highly suggest listening to HW even if you've heard the band before and were unimpressed. I think that album is head and shoulders above their other two.

    missing out

I've been getting into this band more recently, but I think Neva Dinova was/is great but disappeared not long after signing to Saddle Creek. All their albums are great (their debut is fantastic) but aside from some Jake Bellows solo stuff and a couple of reissues with bonus tracks, they haven't released anything new for about 8 years. I'm not sure if they ever play live, but they definitely strike me as a band that was just "getting going" (in the sense that they signed to a pretty big label and stuff, I know they'd been around for years before that) only to release one album with them before fading away. Anybody know if they're still active at all?

Oh, yeah. I only just recently found out they went on hiatus or whatever after Burning At Both Ends. I was definitely disappointed in that one, but it still had some solid tracks.
