My last post back in April was about some of Labour's earliest gains in the polls during the election campaign. What can I say, I love to bookend.

Exactly how I felt during the 2015 Canadian election against Harper. And Corbyn is a decidedly better candidate than Mulcair was for the NDP in Canada.

Master of not knowing what the hell I'm doing.

I'm so nervous about today, oh god. I really hope young people get out and vote, so badly.

As a student, I can vote in either of my respective constituencies: Huntingdon vs Coventry North West. I'm going to be in both areas today. Just need to choose which area would tactically benefit against the Tories the most.

'Fairly safe' Labour seat (Cov N.W) VS 'Very safe' Tory seat (Hunt).

    Huntingdon:

    Coventry North West:

The interesting thing is that with Huntingdon, the Lib Dems had almost Triple more votes than Labour last election (28.9% vs 11.0%) so I would ponder to vote them (tactically). But after their coalition/political suicide I can't see them holding that position anyway. Chances are, I'm voting Labour in Coventry NW.

I know this is far from the point but Huntingdon near Cambridge area?

Yeah, it is. I reside in Cambridgeshire.

    I do not exist.

Fascinating situation for you to be in.

One thought: Surely the LibDems vote should have collapsed there in 2015 if the people in that area thought their coalition was political suicide? It did in Sheffield. Nick Clegg in Sheffield Hallam had a massive majority and he only just scraped in (in fact, I'm predicting he'll lose his seat tonight).

I'd personally go with your decision at the end either way but it's obviously up to you!

I'd say vote in whichever seat has the highest perceived vote value. If Coventry is less safe, that's where you should vote for sure. I had the choice between Lancaster and North Wiltshire. Lancaster is about as marginal as it gets, so my vote was a pretty easy choice.

Does anyone know if there are any studies on how weather affects voting habits? It's real wet out right now and I'd be interested to see if that deters voters and if so, which demographics.

Ahh, thanks for pointing that out. The figure was obviously from 2010 (before the coalition) but I didn't factor to check the 2015 results which were as follows:

    Conservative - 29,652 (53.0% share of the total vote & +4.2% change)
    Labour - 10,248 (18.3% share of the total vote & +7.3% change)
    UKIP - 9,473 (16.9% share of the total vote & +10.9% change)
Lib Dem - 4,375 (7.8% share of the total vote & -21.1% change)
    Green - 2,178 (3.9% share of the total vote & +2.7% change

So yeah, Lib Dems would be out of the situation anyway. I also imagine the UKIP votes will go to the Tories. Huntingdon is definitely going to be a safe spot for Tories. So yeah, it'd be a wasted vote. Glad I'm in a position where I can choose to vote elsewhere. Coventry N.W it is.

Just been and voted for Labour, it felt good to vote for a local candidate who I like for once. I'm now off to Cardiff for a stag do so whatever way the election goes they'll be lots of booze flowing to either celebrate or drown my sorrows.

Nice! I'm Norfolk too! Voting in Mid-Norfolk today. I think our seat has been consistently conservative for over 100 years or some bullshit. Gonna do my part though, I'd love to get rid of George Freeman (won't happen...)

Whereabouts are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm south Norfolk, near enough Suffolk. Yeah I just got back from voting. Fingers crossed.
