  1. That line is the best line on the record besides the knife drawer one in Tupelo

I might be partial to a few of the lines in "Vampires," but that one definitely makes me chuckle.

The last verse of Chaos and Clothes is maybe the best thing on here for me.

"In my sleep, I build machines
But nobody ever wants to hear about my dreams.
Last night I saw a burning ferris wheel, the meaning's anybody's guess, oh yes.
Lovers leave chaos and clothes, and more debris than you can sort through in one go.
And you say love is hell, but it's the ghost of love that's made you such a mess, oh yes."

In general the use of "oh no" and "oh yes" throughout the verses is such great, subtle songwriting.

  5. Tupelo is the best song on this record, fight me

All the songs are so good that I wouldn't fault you for picking any of them.

So looks like everyone has listened to the leak huh? I'm holding out until the actual release day.

I'd be very surprised if there isn't an NPR stream on Thursday.

Really quite an impressive album. im glad @Craig Manning got me into Isbell earlier last month because hes quite the songwriter. I love the way he handles "White Mans World" and I'm sad that so many of his "fans" on certain other sites like Youtube are calling him "anti white" which is just....ludicrous lol.

But anyways all that aside this is just a rock solid album i like that he decided to get a little more heavy and electric on this one.

People are seriously saying that on YouTube? Yikes.

yep. typical "snowflake, Isbell is triggered, white genocide is real!!!" posts but theres also some really disturbing posts about whites being more "civilized" and such that I wont get into on here since it could be very disturbing to read, but yeah its very pathetic.

Yeah I've seen similar comments on saving country music after Hope the High Road came out, all because of the line "I've heard enough of the white mans blues".

Ugh. I expected that when I heard the song, but hoped people would actually listen to the lyrics and delve into his more nuanced points. Guess not.

yeah nothing in the song comes across as "anti white" or w/e but he definitely seems to have a good grasp on what white privilege is, classism, institutional problems, etc so at least the song itself is well written even if some are too dense to read it lol

  16. Would bet a lot of money that many if not most of those commenters saying Jason is "anti-white" are just standard alt-right trolls drawn like flies to a carcass--and not actual disgruntled fans. The commenters by and large probably do not know or care who Jason is.

  17. Wait just kidding it might be "White Man's World"

"Vampires" is the best song on the record, IMO. My favorite changes from one listen to the next.

    Your worst opinion yet!

I could only do a bottom two, and that's "Anxiety" and "Chaos." Everything else has been a favorite on one listen or another.
