Yeah, imagine being a teenage kid and finding LU on Netflix right now. That shit would be WILD.

I also wonder how much of the younger demographic is lost because they watch WWE via DVR or Hulu. House show I was at had 100s of kids (going nuts for Kalisto), and I cant imagine they know those wrestlers through non-WWE stuff. And Cena wasnt advertised for the show

 

Meltzer seems to think a lot of people have dropped Lucha Underground, possibly due to the break. I don't know if he is looking at ratings or just assuming.

I cant even find recent el rey ratings online, but, they were doing like 150-200k people a week, so, cant imagine its dropped that much.

But they too have a median age of like 47.

Pretty much. They went PG to keep advertisers/partners happy, and hoping to grow to a wider audience. Except PG wont do that; they'll need a lot of stuff that isnt old stereotypes going viral to attract new people. Like some Ricochet/Ospreay type stuff.

Unfortunately, their most popular videos are usually people destroying someone (I think Braun flipping the ambulance and Roman murdering HHH are the most recent "big" videos). Or videos for Cena/Taker/Hardys

 

It's strange to me that wresting was so vulgar and brutal when I was a kid and it's so PG now as an adult.

Was watching that video of the Rock assaulting Chyna the other day, I mean it's hard to believe that was aired compared to now.

 

Remember when Goldust was Lunas sex slave or whatever it was ? Or the Pillman/Austin segment.

 

I think people forget that crash TV was huge in the late 90s, stuff like Springer and all that.
And the Monday Night War was threatening to put Vince out of business, he was willing to do crazy shit for ratings because ratings were everything back then.
